I gasped. I smiled wide.

…I finally opened my eyes.

My eyes sure did take a long time to adjust, but once they had I finally realised where I was. I was in my bedroom! The only thing that I could hear was myself panting. But hey, I was just running for literally, my life.

What happened next surely took my by surprise. I felt strong arms pull me into a tight embrace from my left side. I hissed a bit, for some random pain kind of struck me. But once I knew who it was, my mind was at ease.

“Zelda! You’re alive!”

“Link? It is you!”

I was so glad to be out of that hell. It truly was awful. Pulling up my arms slowly, I eventually began to hug him back. The moment my hands held onto his shoulders, his hug tightened by a lot. And I do mean a lot.

“I thought I had lost you forever. I’m s-so sorry!”

Link was actually sobbing! I had never heard him sob, let alone seen him cry before. I tried to be as reassuring as possible.

“It’s alright Link. I’m… right here.”

“No. It’s not alright! I almost took your life Zelda, and it was all because of my selfish-ness.”

Still short of breath, I hoisted myself up into a sitting position with my elbows supporting me (along with Link). I saw other figures standing by the doorway from the corner of my eye, so I looked to them. And there I saw Professor Owlan and my father.

“Father!”

“My Zelda! You’re alright!”

He came running to me in a rather reckless manner, tipping over things as he came by. I chuckled slightly as he too, pulled me into his chest for a nice hug.

I happened to notice something on my arm as we pulled away. After a proper glance at it, I saw that it was a bandage. Looking on other areas of my figure, I saw that I was nearly covered completely in bandages and first-aid material. I jumped at a sudden feel of pain as I tried to flex my arms.

Unexpectedly, my father said “We’ll leave you two alone for a while.” If anything, I’m sure that would be the last thing he wants. He’s a very protective father, but I’m glad he is. I don’t know where I would be without him.

Link’s POV

“Thank you, Gaepora.” I said as he and the professor left the room.

Once the door was completely closed, I let all the tears that I had held back since Zelda opened her eyes, flow to their heart’s content. I pulled Zelda back into my chest, as she too began to cry.

“Zelda… I c-can’t begin to tell you how awful I feel. I nearly killed you, my only friend!”

“I don’t care about that. I only care that you’re here now, with me. I only care about being here with you again, Link!”

We continued to sob into eachother’s shoulders for a while longer. I was so happy to see her alive, although she was not in the best condition, injury wise. I pulled away to see her face again, and she had a beaming smile on her face with tears in between her lips.

“Did you… really mean that, Link?” She asked, her voice barely above a whispering tone. She didn’t need to ask twice.

“Every word. You are my family; you should know that by now. I wouldn’t want to live my life any other way. I wouldn’t know how to live life without you right next me…”
