Ch. 4

Khalid walks back to class. When he enters, the class got quiet. The teacher looks his way.

"Khalid, you're late." She said, shocked.

"I know, I have an excuse pass though." He tells her, giving her the late pass.

"Oh, make sense."

She takes the pass. He turns to the class, as they looked at him. After 5 seconds of awkward silence, they cheered for him. He looks around in amazement. His friends, Jaden, Amandla, and Ella Mai were there too. He sat down as they continue to cheer. He smiles a bit.

"Thank you for finally standing up to that jerk." Jorja said.

"Yo my mans, that's real." Rodriquez (Jacquees) added.

He smiles even more. Jacquees is one of the basketball players, so it felt good, coming from him.

"Alright alright class," the teacher said, trying to calm them down. "Let's get back to work, shall we?"

The class calmed down a bit. Khalid took out his notebook and pen. A student, Quavious (Quavo) tapped on his shoulder.

"Aye my boy, mind if I borrow a piece of paper?"

Khalid gladly passes it to Quavo.

"Thanks my man, that's real."

Quavo is Jacquees's brother, and is often confused with each other. He's also on the basketball team.

They began doing their classwork in silence. Khalid gets a text message. He checks to see it was Ella. He opened the message. It was a cute classroom selfie. Since the teacher wasn't around at the moment (teacher parent conference in his office), he decided to take a selfie. Quavo was messing around in the background. Khalid looks back.

"Damn you crazy." He whispers.

He laughs.

"I see you boy."

Khalid laughs, trying to hold his blush. He sends the picture to Ella Mai. He continues his classwork. Jacquees taps on his shoulder.

"Aye my bad G, what's the answer to #8?"

"B." Khalid whispers.

"Good lookin'."

They continue working.

Lunch time...

Khalid decided to try something new today. He sits outside at the picnic table. He was watching some guys playing basketball. He sees Ella Mai, Jorja, Gabi, and Alessia coming out the cafe. Ella noticed Khalid, and made her way to his table. The girls followed. They sat down with him.

"Hey Khalid." Ella smiles.

"Hey Ella." He said. "Hey ladies."

"Heyyy Khalid." They all said together.

"Are you okay?" Gabi asked.

"I'm fine, thanks."

"What happened?" Alessia asked.

"Oh, Khalid was being bullied by Jacob the asshole." Jorja replied.

"Oooh I've always hated that boy, he thinks he's better than everybody because he can ball."

Everyone agrees. Khalid saw Jacob at the court.

"Damn he's still here."

"Who?" Ella asked.

Jorja pointed his way.

"Shit." Gabi said in annoyance.

Khalid almost got up, when Ella pulls him back down.
