Part 4: The Truth Behind Why?

After Kirito and Akuma stopped fighting everyone started to see the atmosphere go red. The man who trapped them in the game appeared next to them at the finish line. "So Shift, your back." Kirito said.

He started laughing. "Kirito how do you keep getting stuck in these things?" He asked sarcastically. All Kirito had to say was "Because of sick bastards like you."

Shift started laughing again. Then asked Kirito "did you find the catch to this game or should I tell them?" Y/N looked around, and those in the stands had a screen in front of there face watching what was going on, just like how the racers were at the finish line.

"You said that you could trap us but not kill us, but eventually our families will find us and take off our head set, and if no one's has in the past hours we've been here, then you must be using fake time." Kirito said. "What's fake time I'm confused?" Y/N asked Kirito.

Kirito responded "You know how in a lot of games there's day/night cycles. So a day in the game is like 5-20 minutes IRL. Well i'm guessing he amplified it to something outrageous like a day to us is a minute to those outside the game."

"Why would anyone do that?" Y/N asked. "My guess was that originally it was going to be used so that half the time in real life past, so that you could play the game longer." He answered.

Then he turned to Shift. "So am I right?" Kirito asked. "Your right I did use fake time, but what you got wrong is that 1 year in here is 1 day outside, and that should give you enough time to beat me." Shift said just before he vanished.

Y/N and Kirito could hear Akuma mumbling. "One year is one day, no, no fake time technology shouldn't be out for another year, and it has limits to what it can do. This, this is impossible I was supposed to test run that technology. How can he have it?"

Kirito slapped her "what's your problem?" Akuma put her hand on her face, and shakily answered "a while ago the makers of the Amusphere wanted candidates to test some changes that could be brought to the gaming world, and I signed up, and altered game time, or AGT, is what I was assigned to test."

"So fake time has a new fancy name, and we can tell that someone you were working with is Shift. Does that sound about right." Kirito said. "You don't have to be so rude about it." Akuma stated.

Y/N noticed that the entire game was in panic. The people in the stands started rioting and fighting each other. She put her hand on Kirito's shoulder, and said "we need you, your the only one here we know that went through Sao, and the only one who can get us out of here."
