The rioting and confusion started to settle down, but not by much. It had been 2 in game days, and no new races had started. Y/N asked Kirito about it and he said "I'm used to MMO's where you have to beat a boss to move on in the story, and you level up based on how much effort you put in. This game is neither. The only ones to beat are other players, and you just level up for participation."
"So then what does that mean?" Akuma asked. "It means I can only think of one way to level up fast." Kirito answered. Y/N asked "are we going to start races and win our own races?" "Close, but not quite. If you get in a race weather you win or lose you get experience, and this game looks like it was only half finished, meaning there might still be some bugs. Like say you give up on a race, well if you're in a 1v1 the one who gave up lost but still participated. So both people get levels and GC by doing this process over and over."
Akuma, and Y/N figured out what he was trying to convey. "So you want us, and you to revolve and race, but every time one of us gives up, so that we can eventually level up enough to be higher than the man who trapped us in here?" Y/N asked. "Pretty much, there's not much else we can do right now." Kirito answered.
So they started Y/N v.s. Kirito, and Y/N gave up. Then Kirito v.s Akuma, and Akuma gave up. With just that Kirito was now level 25 and the other 2 gained one level each.
They went through this process all day, and soon others caught on. Kirito ended his day at level 512, Y/N at 300, and Akuma at 297. Before they could do anymore the other racers started and ended up filling the track doing the same thing, and the server could only hold so many races at a time.
Y/N and the others went back to the store and bought more gear while the copycats were still gaining levels. Kirito got the fastest bike he could find for his level, and a plasma sword that looked like the one he had in GGO. Akuma got a drifting bike and a sawed off shotgun, and Y/N got a bike called the Westlander.
The Westlander was a rusted up armor plated hover bike, but that's not the only thing. It's handles had a trigger for a turret, and it had spikes coming out of where the wheels would be. Yet it wasn't very fast, neither did it have good traction, but it also had a special effect where the person riding it takes half damage from any weapon.
They weren't sure why Shift hadn't figured out about their trick, but they didn't have time to question it. They were all teleported to the track for a "lottery race". It described itself as a race for 5 randomly picked racers, and it gave the winner double what their money and levels were, but if you lost you got nothing.
The three showed their new bikes, and the two others brought out some level 200 bikes. One had a cyborg accessory that allowed them to see a mini map, so they didn't have to close their eyes, and the other was the smallest character they had seen, as if a child was playing them.
The stage changed once more, and the alien girl got ready with the flag. They all heard "3...2...1...Go!" and then they started.
