POV: Hornet

Hallownest was once barren... Once there was a day that lifeless ragdolls of bodies walked the crossroads, bugs chased and bit with no control. A day when light shined in the darkest times of our lives. Me? I was one that was unaffected by this plague. I was alone in this kingdom, and I accepted that. Until one day, I saw a bug along the outside of the Howling Cliffs.

He told me he was simply a traveler... Though, I wasn't a fool. I ended up attacking the bug, before something absolutely extraordinary happened... Never have I seen a mask shield oneself, otherwise glow like that mask did.

I backed off, assuring him that one would be waiting for him within this fallen kingdom

I backed off, assuring him that one would be waiting for him within this fallen kingdom. I let him go... But the next event.. quite odd. This small little Ghostly being started to follow me around the Greenpath.. Personally, one of my favorite places to roam. This creature stalked me till I led it right into an open area. Only then did I realize what it actually was... and what it wanted to do? I couldn't allow it.

It was able to beat me in combat, so much till I actually felt the blows of it's weak nail. I decided to let it live, knowing it wasn't my time to fall... I knew that this creature was going to follow me, so I should at least teach it... It might have the potential if it could actually stagger me... I brought it to the heart of this world. I told it what the fate of this world was. But the Ghost simply stared at me. At first, I wasn't sure if it was even listening, though.. If it had the nerve to stay, or even pursue me, I knew it was listening loud and clear...

After so, I let it roam. I let it explore... As hypocritical as it sounded, I did exactly what it did to me in Greenpath; I followed this Ghost. I witnessed it's fighting strength, how far it came through this would. To be fair, I was quite surprised. It could actually withstand the wrath of her Hive-minded slaves... Perhaps, this vessel is the one, I thought...  Though, this theory needed to be tested.

The creature made it to the edge of the very Kingdom, where I waited for it. I assured the Ghost once it got to me that I wouldn't hold back this time, that I will fight with all my will, for this is a test of strength. For the battle was long, but...

The Ghost actually beat me. After.. multiple attempts.

I couldn't believe my eyes, seeing those dark voids of eyes have actual determination to get past me within them. It wanted the King's Brand, it wanted to pursue the deeper truth. Who am I to keep it after it's come so far? And to that; I let it pass.

It wasn't long before it witnessed the very egg it hatched from... I was shocked to see that the Ghost was unmoved by it. Not even a shiver... I knew then that it was the one. There was no doubt in my mind that the Knight before me was the one. As it ascended to the temple, I could sense the air growing thicker and thicker. Though, I and the Ghost were unaffected.
