Louis' POV
"Good news Lou! We found Buster; he's in your room." Mum gleams once I've entered the unlocked door. Without answering my mother other than a quick nod I rush up the stairs and into my bedroom. I lock the door and drag my body down until I'm crouched down so my back is against the slammed door. Wrapping my arms around my legs and putting my head in between myself I let out a cry, a groan, a sob and a scream of agony. Tightening my grip around myself I let another almighty sob. Ruff! Lifting my head up despite the pounding in my head I see Buster beside me from all my cries.
"H-hi Buster" I wipe my eyes at the back of my hand and pet the animal I call my best friend for 4 years. He settles on my lap when I cross my legs.
"Louis? Honey, are you alright?" Mum knocks on the door trying to twist the knob. "Yeah, I'm okay" I rasp out feeling the vibration on the door from the rapid taps from my mother. After a few seconds I hear her sigh from the other side of the hard wood surface meaning she's gone. I stand up lightly pulling Buster's collar to follow, he gets up and he jumps at the end of my bed. I chuckle watching him walk around in a circle then settling dozing off.
"Night, pal" I drag my feet to 1 of the 2 windows in my room and open it giving me a hit of cold wind blow onto my face. I look around my room and throw on a wooly jumper and sweatpants that's too baggy and thick socks. When that's done, I jump on the ledge of the window and look down at the roof. Taking a deep breath, I hop down and look up once I'm seated comfortably.
Stars. Stars and the a cresent moon shining bright against the dark sky. Looking forward I see another house with a window; an exact replica of my own. I turn to face the street on my left, lapmposts contrasting the deserted streets, the local shops looking almost abandoned by the closed doors and locked windows, cars parked on the side pavement walk and it's silent. And I love it.
It may seem crazy to love this scenery and cold atmosphere but I savour these moments where I can just be by myself, where I'm kind of free from my thoughts. Most people will think that it looks creepy and isolated. I crawl backwards so I'm leaning on the brick wall with my opened window above my head.
click.
"Oh, hi there" a lad, possibly my age, copies my strategy of climbing out the window. "Hi" I murmur
"You're new here right?" the brunette sits in the middle of his roof comfortably and by judging from that, he must come out here often. "Yeah" I respond with one worded answers.
We both sit in silence. Not an awkward one where we don't know what to say to each other, a relaxing and comfortable silence because we both have things on our minds at the moment.
"So why're you out here?" I quietly ask the unamed boy, scared I might break the silence or that I'm just naturally quiet. "An escape" he whispers but loud enough for me to hear him. I nod, understanding what he means. Plus I guess he doesn't want to break the beautiful silence as well due to the fact that he uses his small tone in voice. I also congratulate myself for the first one talking as I'm never in courage to speak first.
"Why are you here?" the boy asks me back, his brown eyes shifting from the street to me. I blush at the sudden pointed attention and shrug, "An escape" I answer the same thing making the boy smile slightly. "I'm Liam" he introduces "Louis" the corner of my lips turn upwards.
"So, what made you come out here?" the now named boy questions me in which I just shrug my shoulders at. "You?" "Just my everyday life" Liam spills out "Like what?" I bite my lip to stop myself shivering from the cool breeze. "School" he bluntly replies "So, stressing about homework, hating all the grumpy teachers, an unappealing disgust from the lunch meals and extremely irritating friends that only want you to kill every single person in the room?" I list.
