Chapter 21: dinner disaster

The christmas dinner is in 20 minutes. Not ganna lie, im fudging nervous.

I mean their will be me, Darren, his girlfriend, Finnick, his parents, Ash, his parents, Jace, his dad, Libby's friend sally, and last,Mags.

Then of course me,my mom and libby.

My mother of course forced me to wear a dress. Ew. Its dark purple and goes to just above my knees, i guess it looks alright.

I kept my hair naturally curly but made sure it looked good rather then a frizz ball like usual.

"Beatie go help Libby pick a dress!" Mom shouts as she sets the table.

She feels the need to look perfect therefore this will take a while.

20 minutes late the door bell rings.

"I got it!" I yell.

I skip to the door to see Sally and her parents.

"Hello." I grin.

"Your smile is creepy." Sally says with a hand on her hip.

If her parent weren't standing their i swear....

Half an hour later, everyone is here except for Mags.

"Beatrice right?" I hear a man say.

I look over to see Jaces dad.

I smile at him "yeah although most just call me Beatie."

"Oh but beatrice is such a lovely name." He says genuinely.

"Thank you sir."

"Im very sorry about yelling when i first met you. I haven't been a very good person for a long while now. I hope to change that though."

He seems like such a kind soul, too bad alcohol took over for so long.

"Thats ok, don't worry about it. Life may kick you down sometimes but its up to you whether you will get back up or not." I say.

He smiles at me. "Thank you. Im glad my son found a girl like you, your good for him."

"Talking about me?!" Jace says as he plops his arm around my shoulders.

I roll my eyes.

The door bell rings all of a sudden and i know its Mags.

She's the only one left to arrive.

"Beatie can you get that?" My mom asks before continuing her convo with the other moms.

Jace grabs my hand and gives it a squeeze.

I smile at him and we walk to the front door.

I open it and look to see Mags looking to the ground.

"Im really sorry. For everything." She says and jumps up onto me for a hug.

I stand their awkwardly, im not going to hug her back so i just keep my arms at my sides.

She pulls away and skips into the house. I look at Jace and he looks at me weirdly.

"Did that just happen?"

"Shes up to something." I say back before closing the door.

"Maybe she actually feels bad?" Jace suggests but i can tell he doesn't believe that.

"Yea sure and im actually secretly in love with her." I say emotionless.

"Just trying to see thing from her point of view." He says with a sigh.
