*So I know that it's been an extrememly long wait, but... ehh no excuses. I was just being lazy and not in the mood to write. There's no such thing as writer's block, just unwillingness to write in my case. This is a really short chapter, and I'm sorry for that, but the next chapter is longer (I have another chapter written but won't post it until I write another after it). I really hope you guys can keep with me until the end for that should be soon. I'm both happy and sad that it's ending. Happy because I've kind of run out of ideas for this story and hate forcing you guys to wait to read it, and happy because this will be my first long story to be finished. I'm sad because this was the first idea for a story that I've ever had and it'll be ending. I love all of you who have read my story so far and have been here since the beginning. Vote and comment if you really want to show me how much you like it. LOVE YOU GUYS*
Chapter Thirty Three: Finally Home
After about four hours, possibly even more, we finally finished the project that I was sure would give Ashley an A in her class. Both of us had our eyes closed, our arms brushing directly against one others. Just our arms touching made a tingling sensation occur up and down my arms. I opened my eyes to take in the serene look on Ashley’s face. Her chest rose up and down every other minute as she calmly rested her eyes. I lowered my eyes to her soft pink lips, feeling an intense need to kiss those lips, even if it were only for a second. I couldn’t do that though because that would make her open her eyes and take her out of the peaceful reverie that she was in at the moment. So instead I just watched her with immense interest, my lips tingling with a need to kiss her soft lips.
I laid my forehead against her chest, listening to her heart beat. Her heart beat had started to race as soon as I placed my head against her chest. I wanted to be smug about this fact, but all I could feel was happiness that I affected her that way. Even though I knew that she wasn’t asleep, it still shocked me when I felt a warm arm wrap around my midsection, pulling me closer against her. Turning my head towards her, I found her eyes open, watching me with a slightly predatory gaze. It was as if she would attack whoever ruined this moment for both of us.
“What time is it?” she asked with a raspy tint to her voice. Her contentment was obvious through her laidback smile.
I quickly got up and grabbed my phone on top of my desk. “It’s 5:30, babe.”
Ashley nodded and pulled me back to lay against her, my head going back to its original spot on her chest. For a few minutes we laid in silence, Ashley’s fingers running through my hair soothingly. Then all of a sudden the silence was broken with a string of curses flying through Ashley’s mouth as she jumped up out of the bed. I watched her race to get all of her stuff, being reminded of the day after our first date when she remembered something about her mom and the time it was. I chuckled at the memory and Ashley looked over at me confusedly while in the middle of putting her shoes on.
“What are you laughing about?” Ashley glanced over at me curiously.
“This is just like déjà vu. You running around after you’ve remembered something. Me sitting her in confusion trying to figure out what’s wrong.” I clarified for her, starting to get up because I wasn’t comfortable anymore since she left the bed.
Ashley gave me a small smile, obviously embarrassed by that little story. Her cheeks heated up and I knew that she was remembering more of what happened that morning. She didn’t answer though, she just continued doing her own thing. She had put on one of her shoes when I walked over to her and kneeled down on the floor next to her.
