Song of the Chapter (some related, some are just my favorites)- I'm in Love With You by Domo Wilson

I went home around 2 so I wouldn't have to see my dad leave. That always made it too hard. My girlfriend Elien texted me asking if I wanted to spend the night at her dorms with her. I quickly replied yes and packed my bag. She picked me up a few hours later. "Hi honey, how are you?" She asked pecking me on the lips. "I'm good, baby. Just excited to see you," I said while hugging her almost knocking her over. We held hands and headed back to her car. I was ecstatic to see my beautiful girlfriend. We don't see each other often or rarely talk, because we're both just so busy.

The car ride was long, a couple hours. We got back to her dorm around 7:30. They were showing a movie that night so we went down to the grass to watch it. Though not until we grabbed snacks first. We held hands and cuddles the entire time. The movie was super good. I was excited to see a comedy movie. I cried because it was so funny. Elien walker us back to the dorms and we fell asleep shortly after, and when I say shortly after I mean we were so tired she fell asleep on the floor. Her roommate was gone for the weekend and we were alone for the night. Elien and I both had school monday so I would have to go back home the following day. I dragged Elien up to her bed and tucked in my sleepy girlfriend. I fell asleep only after I was sure she was sound asleep.

I dreamt of everything. I saw what my biological mother looked like in my dream. She was blonde, I had a fair complexion and really light blonde hair. She was amazing and so supportive. Not like my adoptive parents. I wanted to meet her so bad I needed answers. Why didn't she want me? I only felt comfortable dreaming these things when Elien is around, she brought me comfort. With as many nightmares I had over this topic I was quite used to waking up in a cold sweat. It was actually constant, I had become obsessive over being adopted because my adoptive parents wouldn't give me answers.

I woke up to the smell of Elien's perfume. Her room was rich with the scent of it, the only issue- my girlfriend was nowhere to be found. I looked around and found a note that had been pushed up under the pillows. My love, I read awe, she called me her love, a warm red blush filled my face. I had an early study session that I forgot about, I am pretty sure i'll be back before you get up. If not there is chocolate milk in the mini fridge, as well as some fruit. Help yourself, I bought it for you. Love you, Elien. I actually had the sweetest girlfriend I could imagine. I got dressed into something a little more presentable and drank the chocolate milk. I turned on my spotify, put it onto my recommended station, and laid back down with a book.

When I awoke Elien was back. She smiled and handed me my glasses. "Hey sleepyhead how ya feeling?" She asked me. I sat up and yawned, put the book down, and checked my phone. 'I want a girl who climbs trees, always dirt on her jeans, her daddy told her how to fix cars, maybe she could fix me' i'd never heard the song before, but it was catchy. Something about it seemed oddly familiar but it could just be me. I turned it off. "Babe what are the plans today?" I asked while grabbing my toothbrush to head to the bathroom. "What do you want to do" Elien questioned. I sat for a minute thinking about it. "Just spending time with you, is enough for me" I replied. Elien laughed, "Okay enough of the cheesy crap." Elien said running up and tickling me. I ran from her, running into the bathroom and locking the door. I quickly brushed my teeth and slowly opened the door, much to my dismay Elien was waiting outside the door and was too quick for me. She grabbed me and pinned me down to the floor. I was laughing so hard I was crying. After I finally caught my breath, I kissed her sealing the space between us. Once we pulled away, I pushed her off of me and ran. We honestly play too much, but I love her.

"Do you just want to go to outback before we leave to take you back home?" My beautiful girlfriend asked. I nodded and ran over to her to hug her I was so excited it was my favorite. Little did I know that would be a terrible mistake and she began tickling me again. "I-Thought you were serious Elien Ashlen Bennett." She knew I was serious now. You don't fuck with me and Outback, I love food. We began to get ready. I threw on a light grey baggy tee shirt, and some dark-wash ripped jeans. Pulled my wavy blonde hair into a high ponytail, and put on a light amount of makeup and filled my eyebrows. Not before I doused myself in perfume though. Elien wore a blue button up short sleeve shirt, and some knee length shorts. Her hair was straightened and I put two french braids in it splitting her brunette hair. Before we knew it we began the long walk back to her car, from the dorms. Outback wasn't far away so we got there in good time.

"Hi, how many for this afternoon?" The hostess asked. Elien held up two fingers and she showed us to our table. "Your server will be Jasalin, enjoy your lunch" The hostess layed down our silverware and menus. Elien was staring at me the whole time. Jasalin came by shortly and gave us water and our cokes. "You're just so beautiful I can't even believe you're mine." Elien said whilst looking into my eyes. I was blushing. There was no other way to describe how I felt about her besides she is my heaven on earth.

I was so busy thinking about how much I was in love with her. This plain small town girl took my heart, and I was infatuated. She drives me wild. I was finally pulled out of the daydream when our waitress came by with the food. I hadn't even noticed the tears streaming down my face. Elien wiped them away and came to sit next to me. She held me and I just cried. I love her so much, I couldn't lose her. No matter how much shit I was going through in my life. God has a plan, right? Everything was meant to happen for a reason. "I love you, Elien Ashlen Bennett" I said while holding her hand. "I love you so much, Brenn Cheyenne James" she replied back with a one million dollar smile on her face. Let me tell you this girl made me starstruck. I love her so much.

We left the restaurant and began the long ride back to my house. The radio played almost every one of my favorite songs. We were about halfway through the ride when the same song from earlier came on. 'I don't really want no trust fund baby, I like my women independent.' I'm not gonna lie it's crazy familiar, I just can't place it but in all honestly it was a bop. When she dropped me off my mom was home, which surprised me but didn't at the same time.

My mother smiled ear to ear and came outside to greet me. Elien waved politely and squeezed my hand before I got out of the car. "Brenn honey I am so sorry I missed your birthday how was it to turn 19, I hope your father and siblings made it worthwhile" My mom said while hugging me. I am not going to lie I was kind of shocked. She yelled at me last time I saw her now she was acting like a completely different person. "It was good, everyone besides you actually showed up for once" I replied. I didn't mean to sound so harsh but she didn't even let me know she was leaving. My mom hurried into the house her heels clicking behind her. She was nervous but I had no idea why. I went up to my bedroom, and laid my bag down. I had a few pages of homework so I got started on that. After I was about half of the way through my Trigonometry homework my mom came in. "To answer your question, I know a lot about your birth family if i'm being honest right now Brenn" My mom said softly.
