Song of the chapter- Ocean eyes by Billie Eilish (Cautious Clay Remix)

Jack's Pov

I was sitting on the couch chilling because Corbyn had gone out with some of his friends. A commercial came on so I went to the kitchen to make popcorn and grab a bottle of water. I heard the door slam shut and Ashley calling for Cobie. I didn't think much of it until I heard Cobie's door slam and lock. I heard screaming and lots of loud noises coming from her bedroom. I was starting to become concerned so I went to the edge of the stairs.

Ashley ran down the stairs, "Something happened with Cobie at the mall. Some girl was giving her a lot of hate," Ashley paused worried, and out of breath. "She's destroying her room and locked herself in," Ashley said panicked. I ran upstairs and knocked on the door. All I could hear from inside was Cobie screaming, crying, and glass breaking. "Do you know where the key is?" I asked Ashley in a hurry. I kept knocking while Ashley ran to get the key hoping that I could get Cobie's attention. Nothing... She wasn't answering. I was worried, and I was scared if I was being honest.

Ashley came running from the hall with the key. I grabbed it away from her and opened the door. I saw Cobie on the floor collapse. All of her posters were ripped down, her shirt was torn, she was laying in a pile of glass from mirror. She had flipped her desk, and thrown the chair across the room. I ran to her. She was laying there sobbing with a glazed over look in her eyes. I wrapped my arms around her and held onto her. I lifted her out of the floor but she fought me. I'd never seen her fight anyone like that, she was cursing, kicking me. I ignored the pain and put her onto the bed. I held her in attempts to calm her down. She was crying and I just held onto her tightly. I started singing Say You Won't Let Go, and rubbing her back. She moved closer to me and continued crying.

Her head slowly began coming up and the glazed look was replaced with a confused one. She looked at herself and her room in horror. I continued singing hoping that it would calm her. It was almost a whisper now but my voice and her labored breathing were the only sounds in the room. Ashley was standing in the doorway with Ashley and Saskia who must of just gotten home. They silently watched. I wouldn't let go though, she needed me now. "You made me feel as though I was enough we danced the night away, we drank too much," I sang. Cobie finally turned to face me. "Jack?" She asked me confused. I looked at her. She thought she was silent but she murmured, "What the hell had I done. I didn't remember anything." I stayed silent letting her gather her surroundings.

An overwhelmed look appeared on her face, and she looked down at my arm. I had bloody scratch marks down my arm. Presumably from her, she looked shocked. "Did I do that to you?" She asked cautiously. I nodded not wanting to scare her, "It's okay," I assured her. She shook her head. "I'm so sorry. I'm hurting this family. I'm hurting their guests." She cried and held onto me. "Babygirl you're not hurting us. You're just hurting nothing is wrong with you." Saskia said coming into the room. Cobie looked up, her mom had begun cleaning up the broken glass, and Ashley had fixed the table. The look on Cobie's face was nearly indescribable the only word even close was hopeless. The life left her eyes and she stared at her mother. She hold onto my hand to the point it was turning purple.

After Saskia cleaned up the room and spoke with her. The door was shut and we were left alone again. "Cobie," I begun getting her attention. She looked up. "What happened" Her blue eyes met my brown ones and she looked down. I gently put my hand under her chin and lifter her head to once again meet my eyes. The bright blue drew me in. It was like an ocean- so blue, so deep, so clear. I was stuck staring into the pools. Cobie's eyes flickered down to my lips. I stood completely still.

Then she got up. She walked into her bathroom and began cleaning herself up. I followed her with the intent of cleaning the scratch marks on my arm. I ended up walking in on a halfway shirtless Cobie instead. I was met with a petrified look and quickly backed out of the bathroom. I sat outside the door with my heart beating out of my chest.
