Song of the chapter: Hey good lookin' by Why Don't WeWhen we got back to the house I walked up the driveway. I really didn't know how to feel. This was supposed to be my home but it felt unfamiliar and cold. It was in a nice suburban neighborhood, but it wasn't my house.
I didn't want to disappoint my mom, so I put on a fake smile. I was sure I'd get used to this soon. I didn't realize how long I'd been standing there until Ashley grabbed my hand, "Come on we're going inside" she said. I grabbed my suitcase and followed my family into the home, feeling more like a stranger. The house was nice, like really nice.
A moment later I was being pulled into the another room. Saskia was responsible. Ashley and Jordan followed closely behind me. "Cobie, this is your father Ray." I looked at my mom she ushered me towards a tall man with dark hair. He quickly got out of his chair and hugged me, "I'm so sorry I couldn't make it to meet you. We just didn't have the money for the plane ticket." He said in the hug. I relaxed and hugged him back. I didn't even know I had a biological father, like obviously I did but they hadn't brought him up yet.. "Mom, dad, I'm gonna go show Cobie her room and the house so she can get settled" Ashley said pulling on my hand. I picked up my suitcase and followed closely behind. We made our way past the kitchen,Living room, 2 bathrooms,, mudroom, study, and dining room. We pulled my suitcase up the stairs, "Okay so that room on the far left is Mom and dad's room, the one down this hall the last door on the left is mine, and the one across from it is the guest room which we use more for storage." she pointed straight ahead of us. "Then on the hall to the right is Jordan's, Corbyn's which is where you're sleeping until they finish yours." She said looking to the right of the stairs. There was an open layout in front of us with a big TV and some game systems, and music recording stuff.
"So where is my room supposed to be?" I asked. Ashley walked down the hall next to Corbyn's room. There was a barn style door, I went to turn the handle but it was locked. "They never open it, but I know where they keep the key" She said running into their parents master bedroom. She emerged with a key and quickly put it in the door knob, the door creaked and Ashley shushed my laughter. The room was full of a crib and baby items. I guess they never changed what it was supposed to look like. The room was covered in dust as well. It was eerie and sad. I walked over to the nightstand, i'm guessing the picture was of Corbyn and I. The only picture of us together before I was gone. Really the only picture my parents probably had of me.
Picture Below:
Ashley and I were interrupted by Jordan, "Ash you know you're not supposed to be in here" He said sternly. I looked at my younger brother, "It's okay it was my idea." I said. He muttered something along the lines of 'You really are just like Corbyn' and walked off. "He's probably right it's not cleaned out for you yet, so we should get out before we get in trouble." Ashley said walking out the door. I followed suit and we went next door to Corbyn's room. The walls were black and dark blue, and had the solar system and constellations. His bed spread was galaxy and the room weirdly enough smelt like a butterscotch cookie. Ashley left me be and told me if I needed anything that she was in her room.
Corbyn's Room Below:
I began unpacking my suitcase and put my few clothes next to Corbyn's. I went to bed shortly after. My brother's room did feel familiar and in a way it made me feel closer to him.
I woke up to the smell of cooking. The house sounded busy, I looked down. It was 6am how was everyone up so early. I went down the stairs and saw Jordan and Ashley running around in there pajamas. Ashley had a toothbrush hanging from her mouth and Jordan was standing in the kitchen in his boxers. "WHat's that look for sis, some of us actually have school today" Jordan said side hugging me and kissing my head. Then he took off full blast up the stairs. Ashley followed him. About 45 minutes later they both came down fully clothed and with backpacks. I hugged them and giggled while they jumped in Jordan's car.
My mom was in the kitchen and it looked like my biological dad already left for work. She is sitting at the table a mug in hand, a simple happier smile appeared. "What is there something on my face?" I asked laughing. "Nope, Just so happy you're finally home." My mom said getting up, "Would you like some coffee" She asked. I nodded and accepted the cup. "So everyone will be gone most of the day, do you want to go shopping?" My mom asked. I smiled, "I'd love to mom!"
A/N: I'm so sorry this is a week late, I'm working on chapter 12-13 now!
