Once Iruka's car was out of my sight, I turned to the school's front entrance. It's two-story building was massive. Kids from all different directions were walking inside. I felt like a puny unmoving fire ant among a mass of moving worker ants. The top of the building in giant red and gold letters, read "Konoha High Academy".
This was the start of a new chapter in my life! I can't believe I have to attend this school. With all the arguing this morning with Dad, I completely forgot how nerve wrecking this was going to be. This school wasn't just a big step, it was another big step surrounded by another several big steps. Mainly, the one where the school was located. It was built in the city next to the mountains, where I've lived with Iruka for as long as I can remember. We live so far out, Iruka literally has to drive me every day to this forsaken place because a school bus doesn't go that far out.
But jokes on him, if I got a suffer, he's going to suffer and drive me to this Hell kingdom. Another big step for me, engaging with humans. The only humans I had practice engaging with were some friends and fellow employees that Iruka associated with. For the quiet, shy type, he sure is sociable.
I walked into the building, the hallway was crowded with students rushing to class, loitering at their lockers talking to friends, or preparing for classes. I maneuvered through the students, pushing past them trying to remain unnoticed.
Eventually I reached my destination, the principal's office.
"One big leap for mankind..." I whispered under my breath, and opened the door to interact with my first human completely and totally by myself. Iruka wasn't here to help me. This was it. I looked toward what I assumed to be some sort of secretary or an assistant. She occupied the desk, typing away on her computer. She glanced up and looked at me and stopped what she was doing.
"Hello. May I help you?" She said with a serious tone. Her face seems to be riddled with stress, probably tired of all the bullshit humans give her. I'd go insane, too, if I had to work in a school to make a living. A place of learning sucked the fun out of everything. She sighed.
"Sir? May I help you?"
I continued to stare at her, realizing too late she was talking to me. I must look like a complete moron. "Ah. Sorry ma'am. I'm a bit nervous is all. You see, I'm actually new here. I was told to come her to grab some papers for my classes." Thank you, incubus dad for passing on your charm. This whole human interaction experiment might be a piece of cake.
"Name?" She said nonchalantly.
"Oh! It's Naruto. Naruto Uzumaki."
She typed away on her keyboard, clicking through stuff. It was only silent and the shuffling of other workers that perturbed the moment. I glanced around nervously while she prepped some stuff.
"Alright, if you could hold on for a second." She got up and went to what I think was a printer. I believe we had one at Iruka's, but I've never seen one that large before. While the papers, were printing, I heard some laugh down a narrow hallway in the office room. I peered down the hallway.
An eccentric-looking man waltz out of room. He stood a few feet taller than me, I looked up towards his face. What. The. Fuck. I knew this man!
"Perverted old man!" I yelled and pointed towards him. The man stopped in his tracks and looked toward me.
The secretary woman turned around abruptly, realizing who I was yelling to. She looked between each of us shockingly.
"Excuse me?! Mr. Uzumaki, you don't call people such names, and the principal at that! Do you want to have detention on your first day?!" She yelled towards me.
