I can smell it. The desperation. The hope. The fear. I can feel what they're feeling. I can see more than anyone else. I am my own life's work. I don't know any different. I lie asleep aware of everything. Sometimes I wish I could dream, to see what it's like. Maybe that's what I'll work on next. My name is E-4. I work at the DNA enhancement world wide (or D.E.W for short) head quarters in Australia. What I do for a living is replacing my own genes with ones that will make me stronger faster smarter and more aware. The people here call it enhancing. I am everyone's test subject and no one is like me. I have no idea how I got here or why I look so different to everyone else. They all have brown, blond, black, red hair. The usual. Yet mines silver and it goes down to my ankles. Note to self, enhance myself so I don't have knotty hair, if possible. I am six foot four and I am 17 years old. Fit and strong. That is a pretty good account of myself, mind tape end.

"Why don't you keep a diary?" Brian my servant asks. "Easy access. And I like to remember some things" I answer quietly. "Fair enough" he pours me some lemonade. At first it was a little strange to have a servant but I got over it. "Thanks Brian"
"Yeah whatever" he answers leaving. I smile and take a sip screwing my face up. I never really liked lemonade, but by rules I have to drink it all the time. The D.E.W building is shaped like an oval and almost all the rooms are round. Since my room is in the centre I don't have to walk far to get to a lab. I sigh as I get dressed. Another day, another test, just another normal part of life.
