We enter a nearby house to formulate a plan.
"We should plant some explosives and blow up the hole?" Pipes up D-4.
"And where should we get, these explosives?" Questions B-4.
D-4 says nothing and taps his head.
"Right here."
"What, some hidden ability?" Sighs A-4.
"No. I can sit here and hope and it'll come to me."
I stop listening and turn to the window.
"Maybe we should ask E-4." Says C-4.
"Because she so looks like she's bursting with ideas..." Says A-4, his voice dripping with sarcasm.
I turn slowly, and they all go quiet. Somehow I have gotten myself authority. I don't understand how, it just seemed to happen.
"I say we see what these things are first." I glance back out the window. "The sun is setting, therefore we have little time. Scout out the area, find a hiding place where you can see clearly. Under no circumstances may you go out and try to defeat them. Depending on what Brian has said," he smiles "we will all get finished."
They nod in agreement and we split up.

I find a nice hiding spot under a pile of wood about five metres away from the hole. Next to me lies D-4, as we were to stay in teams. The sun has sunk low on the horizon and it is about 2 minutes before the 'monsters' come out.
Whatever they are.
D-4 is unnaturally quiet for what I know of him.
I look at him sidewards, and he's mouthing something.
"D-4?"
He looks at me suddenly. "Yeah?"
"Are you scared?"
He looks at me silently and then turns back. "Of course not."
I turn back as the clock ticks over and a screeching sound echoes of all the buildings.
And IT comes out.
There is no other explanation for it. It's simply, an it.
It looks something of a cross over between a large dog, a scorpion and a robot. No part of it has skin on it and then crawl slowly out. The robotic head and legs belong to a dog, yet it has a scorpion body and tail. A red light is throbbing from the inside of its skeletal body and it opens its mouth to let out a ear piercing screech and shows its sharp fangs, dripping with blood.
I stay quiet a moment, taking it all in, when D-4 says exactly what I'm thinking.
"We're dead."
I nod quickly.
Of course we are.
I focus on it again. How it moves, where it patrols.
Minutes pass and we're still there in silence.
D-4 takes a tiny, barely audible breath.
And it's head turns out way, with a grin on its face.
