The customers started to file in, while I anxiously tried taking down everyone's order in line.

"A large black coffee? That's it? three sixty-nine." I said in a rushing voice, typing it into the cash register. Then, behind the paying man, I spotted someone with a black eye. Not just anyone.

Joe!

"Oh my God! Harper, switch with me!" I ordered, getting even more anxious. She knit her eyebrows and leaned in.

"Why?" She whispered.

"My ex-boyfriend is there..." I groaned, switching spots with her. She took a peak and gasped, covering her mouth.

"You and Joe are broken up?" She questioned, eyeing him.

"And he has a black eye? How?" I started to brew coffee and she got someone else to take the cash register. She leaned on the counter and looked at me.

"We broke up because I was cheating on him with my roommate... and then when we broke up, I told him and he came to attack me, but my roommate caught a punch to him before he could hurt me." She snorted and widened her eyes.

"Faelecia! How dare you cheat!" She whispered harshly. I looked back and saw Joe glaring at me. I felt like the ground could swallow me up now.

"You make his drink," I said, shoving the stuff to her side and leaving the counter, taking a quick little break by the table. Harper was probably my best friend here, which I was glad for. Actually, she and the other employees here were my friends. Brendon was hands down my best friend. I cupped my head in my hands and sighed, not crying though.

"Hey, you good?" An unfamiliar voice asked. I heard their Canadian accent and my eyebrow raised. My stomach grew with butterflies and I took a peak at who it was.

"Oh my God! You're Shawn Mendes!" I whispered, jumping out of my seat. He chuckled and ran a hand through his hair.

"Yep, that's me! But what's wrong with you? You seem sad." I looked in his eyes and nearly passed out. How was this happening?

"My ex-boyfriend is here, and he's really mad..." I groaned, rubbing my temples. Shawn rubbed my back and smiled. My cheeks flushed red and I pulled my phone out.

"Can I please get a photo! You're my favourite artist!" His smile grew and he nodded. I went on Snapchat and took a nice photo of the both of us smiling.

"Which ones your ex?" He questioned, turning around to examine the people in line.

"The first one, he's ordering right now so I'm taking a quick break." He winced and turned back to me.

"Why does he have a black eye?" How am I so casually talking to Shawn Mendes?

"Well, you may think I'm a terrible person after telling you the story. So I got a new roommate and my ex was jealous of him. Then one morning, my roommate and I ended up kissing and we just fell in love then and there. We went to the park and my ex, Joe, found us there. He broke up with me and me being my enraged self told him that I was cheating on him with Brendon, my roommate, and he came running to me, about to attack. Brendon pushed me away and punched him before he could hurt me."  Shawn's eyes widened and he glanced back at Joe.

"Kind of got what he deserved, don't you think?" He chuckled, causing me to smile.

"Anyways, why is Shawn Mendes here in LA?" I asked, tapping my fingers on the table.

"I've got a show tonight, and I'm just here to get some coffee." He stated. I nodded and bit my finger nails.

"Cool, uhh, I can serve you, what do you want?" I stuttered. We both got up at the same time and stood there.

"May I?" I asked, opening my arms. He nodded and wrapped his arms around me in a soft hug. I just hugged Shawn Mendes!

"Hey, would you want a pair of tickets for the show tonight for you and your boyfriend? They're backstage passes, and in the front row." My mouth dropped and my knees bucked.

"What? Y-You're giving me tickets to your show? For free?" He nodded and pulled out his phone.

"Give me your number and I'll text you the address to printing them off. You'd get to meet me again, and this time I'll meet your boyfriend." My smile grew quickly and I nodded, putting my contact info in his phone and adding my name.

"Faelecia? That's a pretty name!" Oh my God! Shawn Mendes said my name was pretty!

"Thank you! That means a lot!" He smiled a toothy smile and looked around.

"If I go back to work now I can be your cashier..." I said, causing him to nod.

"Sounds great to me!" I walked back behind the counter and told Clarissa, the woman working the cash register, that I could do it. She nodded and took her break. I saw Shawn looking down at his phone screen, his eyebrows knit in concentration. Then my phone buzzed, sending the vibrations through my back pocket.

"Hello, what can I get you?" He ordered and walked off to the side, waiting for his drink. This process continues for a while until Shawn walked up to the counter. I felt Harper's hand in my shoulder as she looked at Shawn.

"Am I hallucinating or is that Shawn Mendes?" She asked, looking between him and I.

"I think you're hallucinating." I lied, causing Shawn to laugh.

"What can I get you?" I asked as enthusiastically as I could. He chuckled and looked at the menu.

"Can I get a large coffee with two milk and a shot of french vanilla?" I nodded and started to type it on the screen.

"That'll be four twenty-six, but your drink is on me." Shawn shook his head no and smiled.

"I can't let you do that, Faelecia." My knees bucked again and I pulled out my debit, tapping it on the machine before he could.

"It's done, plus, it's the least I could do. You're giving me tickets to your show." He put his wallet away and thanked me.

Harper walked up behind me with his coffee and giggled. "I'm giving Shawn Mendes his coffee!"

"Yeah, way to go. Have fun!" I pat her back and turned my head to the next customer, only to realize that the line wasn't there. Rush morning must have been over. Shawn walked in front of my till and placed his hand on mine, bringing it up to his mouth and kissing it. I gasped and blushed.

"Can't wait to see you tonight, and I'm excited to meet your new boyfriend. He sounds like an awesome guy! Bye, Fae!" He waved goodbye, holding his coffee in his hand. I waved back and smiled at the nickname.

"Bye Shawn!" He flashes a smile one last time and walked out of the café. Then, in the back I heard everyone whispering.

"Guys... I think Shawn Mendes was in here." They all hushed among each other. I smiled, looking nowhere but where the famous artist stood twelve seconds ago. There was no way this was real. I pulled my phone out and saw a message from a number, only assuming it was Shawn, but I asked just in case. Changing his name to Shawn Mendes, I looked and saw he sent me two tickets, centred in the front row. There was a little lanyard photo beside it, signalling to backstage pass.

Brendon walked in the café and smiled when he saw me.

"Hey babe! How's it going?" We both leaned over the counter and pecked each other's cheek.

"Harper, can you take the till for me? I'm gonna take another quick break."
