[Sean]

I froze for a second, just staring at her, staying there with her arms folded behind her back and slightly swinging on the tip of her toes. She met my gaze and that was my cue. I didn't give her any time to react as I threw my arms around her, one pressing her head onto my shoulder and the other one firmly securing the small of her back.

I closed my eyes and hugged her tighter as I felt her small arms snaking their way around my shoulder blades. I felt her sigh and relax further into the embrace, like a weight was just lifted off her shoulders. The familiarity of our closeness soothed me in a way I didn't think I could have any other way. I tangled my fingers further into her curls as I ran my thumb against the back of her head.

"I freaking missed you", I mumbled in a moment of sincerity.

"Back at you", she giggled, making our bodies shake along with her laugh.

I smiled so broadly my cheeks almost hurt. Coming back to that sound was worth every time.

We slowly loosened the hug and I took a step to the side, letting her enter first in the house.

[Kaycee]

I sit down on the couch scrolling through my phone, waiting for Sean to bring some snacks.

He plopped onto the couch like a potato sack, resting his head against my thigh for support. He intertwined his fingers across his chest and closing his eyes, started fake snoring.

I couldn't help but burst out laughing. His goofiness will never get old.

"Does my jetlag entertain you, silly ?" he asked eyeing me through slightly parted lashes.

I shrugged and rested my head against the cold material of the couch. I was dazed by the comfort of his presence. I didn't even feel the need to talk, just cherish this moment.

"Yeah, unless you're too tired to tell me all about it", I said nudging his head.

I saw his eyes flicker immediately full of passion and enthusiasm as he related in detail every place he visited and every class he taught. I lost count over how many times he got over excited when he remembered a dancer that caught his attention, showing me videos and cheering as he rewatched them with me.

"I can't wait for you to experience all this touring thing, it truly is unlike anything we do here", he concluded at last, yawning.

He was drained of energy and laying down wasn't really helping either.

"Soon. Maybe ? I don't know, really", I looked into the distance, not really focusing on anything, lost in thought.

It was certainly not a favorite topic of mine. All the pressure to choreograph and teach was weightning. It's not like I didn't want to do it. I expected brilliance from myself and that doesn't just fall from the sky. I need to give myself time, to focus on my craft not because of the expectations, but for the beauty of the journey, the satisfaction of self growth. He knew well enough my opinion on the matter, but never wastes an opportunity to convince me to push harder in order to achieve my goals.

"Earth to Kaycee", I felt something repetedly bump into my stomach. It was Sean's head, his hair swiftly touching my skin, tickling me.

I ran my fingers through his hair, stopping his movements and quickly tied it a little ponytail with a hairband I always had on my wrist.

"You are in desperate need of a haircut, my friend" I tried containing my laugh as he stood up into a sitting position on the couch.

"Why ? l'm all about the Samurai Jack vibes of this look", he smirked pointing at the top of his head.

"Yeah, if only you were that cool", I responded not being able to control my giggles anymore. He joined me and threw the hairband in my direction.

No matter for how long we were apart, we always seemed to get back from where we left like nothing happened. It was a certainty and a safe place in this hectic life of ours. The industry is all fun and games, until you realize that most people just want to raise above their station or at least pretend to without any morals or common sense.

"Wanna watch some Friends ?", he asked out of the sudden turning the TV on with his feet on the coffee table.

"You're going to fall asleep in no time. How about playing some cards?", I pulled a puppy face fluttering my eyelashes quickly.

"I'm not really in a mood to get my butt kicked at cards, Kayc", he confessed and turned off the TV.

We therefore compromised and watched some stand-up comedy shows until we were clenching our stomach from laughing so hard. I'm pretty sure the guy's jokes weren't even that good, but our side comments were cracking us up.

"Oh boy, I'm dead", I wiped away a tear from the corner of my eye and touched my warm face that I was pretty sure was red by now.

"Man, it's good to be back home", he said letting out an exhausted chuckle. It sure is, Sean. It sure is.

[Author's note]

Hi, peeps. Here's an update, still not much action happening. Actually, as far as I see this story, I want to focus on them mostly, so it's more about the way they interact with each other and how their relationship is and evolves. I hope you don't find it too boring.

Thank you for reading, see ya !

P.S. I will never get over Sean and Kaycee's piece from The Cut. I just can't.
