Bishop POV

When I wake up Saturday morning, I stretch out like the cheshire cat. Last night was filled with playful love-making and I've never felt so energized. Klara isn't beside me when I wake up, but I hearing banging and clashing from downstairs, so I know that she's still here.

I pull on some white Calvin Klein boxer briefs and pad dow the hall and stairs. Klara sings softly to herself, nothing that I recognize, as she cooks up a storm. She flips a pancake before going back to whisking eggs.

"Say you'll stay, say you're mine. I'll love you for all time, just stay" he voice carries out into a long beautiful note.

"Wow."

She scares and turns around to glare at me.

"Hey, buddy. Don't sneak up on people."

I hold up my hands and sit at the breakfast bar to watch her.

"Don't stop because of me. What were you singing?"

Her face blushes red.

"It's just something I'm working on right now," she glares at me again.

So defensive, so strong. She continues to beat the eggs with a little more frustration.

"Hey, you can ease up on the eggs," I stand and gently pry the bowl from her claws. "From what I heard, that song is amazing. Your voice is amazing as well, I don't understand why you haven't sung for me yet."

"It's not good. It's mediocre at best." She turns back to flipping pancakes and removing bacon from the pan.

"You're crazy, babe. I'm actually shocked at how good that sounded. With music, I don't think you'd leave a single audience member in their seat."

"Thank you for the compliment, Bishop," she sighs.

Irritation crawls up my spine.

"Say it, Klara. Say 'I, Klara Martell, have a killer voice and heart-wrenching lyrics'."

"No." She turns to glare at me once more.

My hand reaches forward and I tickle her side while demanding her to say it. She starts to laugh and ward be off.

A huge crash makes her scream. I watch as glass explodes into the house and pull Klara down being the counter as gun shots fire into the house.

"Fuck. Stay here, understand?" I look at her as she clutches his hands over her ears.

I reach into the bottom drawers beside the fridge and grab the gun I stashed there back when I was first welcomed into the gang as their leader.

Making sure there are bullets inside, I clutch the gun in both hands before walking low around the house. I get to the front door and step out just as a man comes running around the back of my house. I fire first and he falls to the ground. I move fast so that no one has time to enter through the back where Klara is.

There's three more men with automatics still shooting up the back of the house. Fuck, why did there have to be three?

I flatten my back to the wall and peek out before shooting one of them directly between the eyes. He crumples but his friends are alarmed and start to search around for where the shot came from.

At least they stopped shooting for now.

I look around for inspiration on how to take both of these alarmed idiots out but one of them speaks before I can get a word out.

"Get out here, Cade. Don't be a coward."

"Who are you?" I shout, giving them my location.

"We're just here for Frank. Give him to us, and we'll leave you and your pretty little girlfriend alone," the farthest man from me calls.
