The day after my date with Todoroki, I get another text from Momo. "Hey Noelle. I was wondering if we could...hang out for bit? There's something I need to tell you about." It read, and I reply. We were to meet at a cafe near my home at noon, which was only in a little bit. I took a shower, hid all my cuts and bruises, put on some nice looking clothes, and went out to meet Momo.
As soon as I got there, I see that Momo was early and sitting in a booth. I go over, and sit across from her. "Hey YaoMomo. Is something the matter?" I asked as I sat down. She was silent for a moment, until she took a deep breath. "Noelle? Do you think I would make good a hero?" She asked. Clearly the loss at the Sports Festival was still eating her up. "Of course, YaoMomo. You'd make a great Hero. If you keep trying, and you have a genuine desire to help people in need, then there's no need to worry." I tell her. She still looked a little down, as if she didn't believe me, so I went on. "You know, I always think about the same thing. Before, I had no confidence in myself, and even thought about not taking the entrance exam." I say. "You mean...you weren't brought in through recommendation?" She asked me, surprised. "Nope. I had to work for my place here. But...I'm glad I took the chance to take the exams. If I didn't, I wouldn't have gotten to know you, or any of our classmates. I love it here at U.A., and I love you guys too. You all make me feel special, as if I can do anything." I say, and smile. Momo was left speechless, as if I said something that changed her life. She takes another breath. "Noelle..." She says quietly. "Hm?" I wonder, and she leans over the table and... "?!" kisses me straight on my lips. She soon moves away, and I see she was blushing quite intensely. "Thank you." She says, and runs out of the cafe. I was left there, completely stunned at what just happened.
I walk back home in a daze, but snap out of it when I hear giggling. I look up to see Noa's friend, Seryu, with a small ginger girl. She looked like she was twelve, or something. I try to make myself seem invisible, and walk by them, but Seryu figures me out. "Noelle Tachikazi." She says, and I freeze in place. "Tell me. What are your thoughts when you hear the word 'justice?'" She asked. "J-Justice...? Well...I think about people doing the right thing. Like, saving another person." I tell her. "Really? Does 'reward or consequence' come to your mind?" She asked. "Well...I don't really think of the rewards...but the consequences are another thing. I guess consequences come to those who deserve them." I say. "And why do you want to be a Hero? Money? Fame? Or maybe...to get someone's approval?" She asked one more question. "Why...? Because I want to help people... I want to make sure that no one has to go through what I did... To shelter people, and give them hope." I say. "I see. You and I more alike than I originally thought. C'mon Masumi. Let's go." Seryu wraps up the conversation, and walks off with the small ginger girl. "What...was that about...?" I wonder to myself as I make my way home.
