Chapter 12: The First Round

I look up at the giant screen, hoping this was a bad dream. But it wasn't. My first opponent was Vic. What are the odds of that happening?! Well, it might be punishment for us teaming up in the race earlier. Oh well, can't change it now. Vic turns to me, and gives me a smile. "I won't lose so easily." She tells me. I nod in agreement, and we all head off to our specific seating area. The first round was Izuku verse a General Ed. student named Shinso. If he's a General Ed. student, he can't be that hard to beat, right? Wrong. Apparently he had a Quirk that can mind control people whenever they answer a question he asks. Izuku was so close to stepping out of the battle area, but suddenly snapped out of it.

The fights continue, and very soon it was my turn. I stand up, and walk off to the waiting room. As I prep myself, I try to think of ways to beat Vic without showing off too much of my Quirk. "Psy Qualia..." I say to myself, and imagine the future. I imagine myself winning, obviously, but it's not like I totally rigged the match. I did give her a fighting chance. "...elle...? Noelle!" I heard a shout, and snap out of my image. "Wh-What?!" I asked, and see Yaoyorozu was standing in front of me. "You're staring off into space, and something weird is happening with your eyes." She tells me, and holds up a mirror. My eyes were shining, almost like a rainbow galaxy of sorts. It fades as soon as I blink, however. "Sorry. I was just...daydreaming." I tell her. "Oh, I see. Well, I just wanted to say good luck." She says, and pats my shoulder. "Yeah, no pressure." I say, and walk out of the room. Time to kick some butt.

Once out in the arena again, the crowd went wild. I guess it's not everyday that people here see a cat fight. When I get into place, Midnight announces the rules again. I tune her out, and observe my opponent. Victoria had her sleeves rolled up to her shoulders, as well as her pants rolled up to her knees. She's planning to blind me as soon as the match starts. I saw this coming, of course, but it still made me nervous. "And...begin!!" Midnight calls, and as I said, she flashes me with her arm. I turn away, and wait. She can't hold it for very long, so if I wait until she's finished, I can make this a martial arts fight. I hear her footsteps approaching, and turn at the right time to grab her arm, and move it away from me. We throw a few punches and kicks at each other, like I imagined, and she was backing me into a corner, to the edge of the the ring. After she tried to punch me again, I duck out of the way, and grab her arm. I turn myself, as I saw she was going to flash me again, and throw her over my shoulder and onto the concrete. I didn't try to hurt her too much, and it looks like she's fine. "The winner! Noelle Tachikazi!" Midnight announced, and medics came to Vic to take her to Recovery Girl.

As soon as I get back into the stands, I watch the rest of the fights. As soon as Bakugou beats Ochako, it was Noa vs. Tiga. But Noa forfeited by stepping out of bounds willingly. I was shocked by this, as I was sure Noa was going to win. What made her want to forfeit? I didn't have time to think on it, as next was a fight between my classmates. In fact, most of the rest of the fights from here involved classmate fighting classmate. Blanc was a quiet girl, so I never really talked to her much. Her opponent was a girl named Ophelia Yaiba. She was also quiet, and like Noa, she forfeited. I saw what her Quick could do, and it was frightening. Anyway, the next battle was Suzuki vs. Neptune. She's Ms. Makise's daughter, and they share the same Quirk, Gravity. They can basically control gravity around them, and others. Neptune won. Next was Uni vs. Leina. Leina's Quirk is called voodoo, so she made Uni surrender by poking a doll of her with needles. And the last round was a girl named Seven vs. Shikkani. Shikkani can give people sicknesses with her Quirk, so she tried to get Seven sick, but was Locked before she had the chance. Seven's Quirk, Lock, Let her immobilize an opponent with a set of ring, so yeah. And that was the last round. I wonder who my next opponent is.
