A prelude to a kiss

Scene 7

Me: A few weeks had gone by and Sam and I had passed each other on campus but barely said hello. On the other hand Jide and I had become the hottest couple on campus, we were everywhere together and we even drove to school together sometimes although Dolapo was very reluctant to join us and very often drove herself in either her car or mine depending on her mood. It was mid semester and Dolapo and I usually stayed in school and enjoyed the solitude but this time around it was different, Jide had suggested that we take a trip to dubai. I had been to Dubai quite a few times but it was always with family, I kept wondering how I was going to break the news to Dolapo as this was always our time together. It was a wednesday morning and we had our last classes today before the break, i had just woken up and Dolapo was up too.
Dolapo: Hey, are you up?
Me: Yes I am.
Dolapo: We should start getting ready don't you think?
Me: I agree. But can we talk for a minute?
Dolapo: Whats up?
Me: It's about the holidays.
Dolapo: You have plans don't you?
Me: Jide got tickets to Dubai, he wants us to spend the week there.
Dolapo: I figured. It's fine Vee you guys can go, i have some work to do anyways.
Me: I knew she was upset, in the two years we had been in school we had never spent any break apart but this was different, I was with someone special now although I hoped I was not loosing my best friend. We arrived school slightly late Jide and I as we kept talking about the trip.
Jide: I'm thinking we should spend a little more time in Dubai.
Me: One week is already a lot of time, i have to be back in school you know.
Jide: Just want more alone time with you babe.
Me: I know, me too but we need to be reasonable here.
Jide: I guess we have to make the week as special as we can.
Me: What do you have planned by the way? I want to know.
Jide: It's a surprise, be patient.
Me: Ok boo. We drove up to my lecture hall and Dolapo was already parked outside still in her car, I got out and hugged Jide and headed towards Dolapo. She got out of the car and we both walked into class together. The day couldn't go quickly enough and classes kept dragging on and on, I dozed off a couple of times and felt the wrath of Dolapo's elbow a few times. After classes we went out and had an early dinner as I wanted to spend a bit of time with her before I left the next day. We got home a little over eight O'clock in the evening and I poured us a cocktail and we chatted a bit.
Dolapo: I hope you have fun on your trip. But please be safe ok.
Me: I will, I will be in good hands.
Dolapo: I sure hope so, make sure you call as often as you can.
Me: I will. Dolapo was the best friend a girl could ever have, i know she didn't entirely approve of Jide and I but she still supported my decision. I just hoped things would work out because I didn't want to hear the "I told you so". We both said our goodnights and drifted off to sleep.
