Witch town, The Apothecary home. Virgil's mindset.

Mrs. A: Virgil... Virgil... Virgil!.. VIRGIL!

V: Coming, mum!

Virgil trotted down the stairs in a slump, he had been resting for the past 2½ hours since it was late at night and he was just in a lazy mood. But when his mother calls him, he'll never get out of the situation.

V: Yes, mum?

Mrs. A: Get the thyme on the middle left shelf please, dear. I'm learning a new remedy and I need the thyme.

Virgil's mother resumed to stir the pot as Virgil reached for the thyme on the shelf. He pulled it out and a piece of paper was underneath the jar, he picked up the paper and examined it carefully.

V: Mum... Is this a note from dad?

Mrs. A: Put that back, that's none of your business.

V: Ok I was just wondering if there was still a trace of him in my life, considering I've never met my father...

Virgil's mother felt sympathy for her child, but she felt what she did was best for her little Virgy. After all, he'll never understand like she did...

--FLASHBACK--

Mr. A: I DUNNO WHY YOU WANT TO KEEP A CHILD LIKE THAT! HE'S JUST GONNA BURDEN OUR LIVES MIGHT AS WELL SELL HIM OFF TO THE VAMPIRES TO BE KILLED--

Mrs. A: DON'T YOU DARE SPEAK ABOUT MY BABY BOY THAT WAY! I LOVE VIRGIL WITH ALL MY HEART AND--

Mr. A: Virgil... That's what you named our boy... Virgil?!

Mrs. A:  Why do you suddenly care about his name?!  Your the one that said we should sell him to the Vampires to kill him!

Mr. A: BECAUSE! -- You know what if you don't want me to get involved with his name then I won't get involved with him at all! *storms away*

Mrs. A: Fine then... *cradles baby Virgil* don't worry love.. We can survive on our own, just you wait.

--FLASHBACK ENDS--

Mrs. A: Alright well... Thank you dear..

V: Was it from dad..?

Mrs. A: .... Well... It doesn't matter

V:It does to me! Why can't you tell me!

Mrs. A: Cause you're too stupid to understand!

Virgil was taken aback by his mothers outburst. Out of all people who could say or do something like that to him... His mother?! His one reason to keep going on a daily just knocked his confidence that much more... They stood in silence...

Mrs. A: Virgy I'm so sorry I didn't mean to--

V: No, you said what you said... I'll be upstairs in my room

Mrs. A: Virgy I--

V: LEAVE ME ALONE, WOMAN!

He slammed the door in his room and curled up in his bed. He pulled out his phone and called one of his friends.

R: What do you want hot topic?

V: Awww you think I'm hot.

R: Whatever, what do you want?

V: My mum asked me to fetch a had of thyme for her. The I found a letter that was from a mysterious person, I asked if it was from my dad and she said it doesn't matter and I asked her why she wouldn't tell me then she said... "

R: What'd she say..?  You can tell me you know?

V: I know that, that's why I called you on the first place. Anyway.. She said... She... she..."

R: You can say it.. I won't judge you... Just... Say what's on your mind...

V: she said that i was too stupid to understand...

R: Virgil.. But you might not understand.. She might've said that cause you were pushing her to the limits and she was trying to protect you. Take it from me I---

Sirens are heard in the background and panicky shuffling can be heard.

R: I have to go, the cops found us

V: Roman, you're not hanging out with them are you?!

R: Look I need to go! I'll pin this conversation and--

V: Don't bother.

R: virgil-VIRGIL!-- *call ended*

Virgil ended the call, he slumped on his bed and sighed to himself.

V: I'll just call Patton, he won't be sleeping anyway...

He picked up the phone and dialed Patton's number.

P: Hello? Virgil?

V: Hey Patton...

P: What's up, hun? You sound depressed...m-more than usual...

V: I found a letter underneath a jar of thyme, when I asked my mum about it she said it doesn't matter and then when j asked why she can't tell me she lashed out at me and said I was too stupid to understand... tell me... what should i do?

P: Babe...she prolly didn't mean that..

V: How do you know that?

P: She always means to protect you, Virgil, she's your mother. She was probably pushed to her limits by that whilst trying to protect you--

V: Exactly what Roman told me.

P: From her pain and suffering... Something that hurt her in the past, she doesn't want you to be effected like how she was...

V: i... didn't think of it that way...

P: You've gotta trust her on these things, Virgil. Mothers always have a way... See you tomorrow.

V: Bye, Patt. *call ended*

Virgil laid on his bed feeling a wave of calmness and reassurance wash over him, the stress he felt before had melted away, leaving him to sleep peacefully, as he did so, he felt himself slip into a dreamscape, one he would never want to wake up from.
