AFTER WE CLEANED, I rested. I had to.
"If you put too much pressure on the system, it will crash." Evan Walker warned.
"Gee, thanks Evan. You're the one who broke it." I ponder for a moment. Then I add, "I'm also carrying a frigging child."
After Cassie left me sprawled against the wall in the Wonderland room, I felt myself grow less paralyzed. I ignored that though. My main goal was to use the final gift that Vosch had given to me so I could help Cassie.
When I realised that the small tube was gone, I had a plan B. I crawled my way to Vosch, digging through his pockets to find the kill switch. I found it. I pressed it. All entities in the vicinity dropped dead; my injuries continued to heal.
When Ben found me, I was still unable to walk. He lifted me onto the bed that I'd laid in for months on end, underneath the constant sterile glow with Razor to keep me company with Chaseball and pre-Arrival stories.
He sat beside me and he asked, "What happened?"
I could speak now. "He broke my back." I mustered.
"Whoever that son-of-a-bitch was that broke your back, I'm gonna—"
     "—It was Evan." I interrupt him.
"You said he would be dead." Ben replied, unimpressed.
"Well, the body was Evan's. His mind was not."
One of Ben's eyes twitched. "Huh?"
"Vosch changed him. He didn't kill him, he erased his human memory. He forgot me. He forgot you. He forgot Cassie and everything he had done to save her." I gawked in shock. "Everything."
"He erased the memory."
I nodded.
Suddenly, I'm feeling very worried. "Cassie! Where's Cassie, Sam, Megan?" I ask frantically attempting to sit up. I begin to panic, I have goosebumps, my head hurts.
He waves his hands frantically in front of my face in an attempt to calm me.
"Marika, calm down. They're fine . . . I think. Cassie . . . um . . ." He says. That's not very reassuring.
I clear my throat. "You have to go get them. The recruits may be dead, but there's more danger, Ben." I tell him.
He nods and leaves me in the Wonderland room.
He returns with Megan and Sam clinging to either side of him.
I remember something. Ben does too. We exchange glances before he runs off down the hall. I say run, but it was more of a hop, sparing his right leg.

Ben

     I exit the Wonderland room and clear every room down the hall. Left to right. Left to right.
I don't know if Cassie's alive. When I get back to Marika, she's gonna explain anything and everything she and Cassie did since they got on that helicopter. Everything.
The Mothership exploded. I know that. I saw it when I left Sam and Megan by the river.
At the time, I wondered, Did Evan do that? Again? Kill himself and his kind to save Cassie? Probably. Or someone else decided they would go against their own kind and help Evan Walker do so.
Though now, I think it might be Cassie who did it. I could be wrong.
I approach a room with a door broken on its hinges with a giant hole in the middle. I peek inside the hole and find Evan Walker sprawled face down in a shallow pool of water. One of his hands are outstretched in front of him, reaching for something. What?
I open the door, and surely, just out of his reach, is a small electrical wire. That's when I realise that Cassie was the one who had killed Evan Walker with water and a wire. Wow.
Then I realised that if I went to touch Evan Walker, I would be electrocuted and end up sprawled in the same position on top of Evan Walker. Ew.
But I need to check if he's alive. He may have lost his enhancement, but he's still pretty indestructible.
I step around the puddle and his body, kneel down in front of his face. I reach my hand out in front of me, just a centimetre away from being electrocuted.
I feel his breath.

BTW— Marika says "I'm carrying a baby". From the last two books in 'The 5th Wave' series, some chapters gave multiple signs of Marika/Ringer being pregnant. So I'm not sure if the baby is from Razor/Alex (read the old books to know who he is) or Zombie/Ben or if Marika/Ringer even is pregnant. So I'm not sure. Comment if you know the answer to that. Plz. Thx.

This is a bit posted after this whole thing was published because I found the answer to the question above: Is Marika/Ringer pregnant and if so, who's the father? I was reading about 'The 5th Wave' and came across an article about Marika/Ringer specifically. I read it thoroughly and says that in the second book 'The Infinite Sea', Marika/Ringer and Razor/Alex have a little 'fun'(clears throat). So basically, Razor/Alex and Ringer/Marika have a make-out session and Razor/Alex got Ringer/Marika pregnant. I'm guessing Marika/Ringer figures she's pregnant after realising she didn't have her monthly period and/or her tummy was becoming bigger and rounder. But yeah, so question answered. Marika/Ringer is pregnant and Razor/Alex is the father. Cool. We goooooood. Please, continue reading.
