Christian and Kari have developed a great friendship in the year that he has enrolled at City College of San Francisco. It all started when Christian developed a certain desire to go to school. When he was drafted by the Giants, he chose to forgo his scholarship to Florida State University to pursue his dream of playing professional baseball. However, his desire to learn never faded.
After being called up to the Giants, he decided that he should enroll at the local community college and keep his mind busy with academics, as well as baseball. He enrolls in ENG 101 which is the Intro to Engineering course. He quickly becomes friends with Kari, who is an engineering major. They quickly become study buddies and she goes to his games. She also becomes the Giants' #1 quick babysitter call.
Everyone on the team quickly suspects that something is brewing between the pair because of how they act and treat each other like they're old and married. However, the two deny any romantic involvement and feelings. In fact, Kari goes on a few dates with others which no doubt manages to make Christian jealous. His teammates always have to listen to him complain about how he doesn't like any of the people Kari hangs out and goes on dates with.
Tonight, Kari and Christian are supposed to meet up and study for their ENG 101 final. The exam is worth 25% of their overall course grade. Kari lays out tons of snacks and keeps the fridge stocked with tons of energy drinks, since they'll no doubt need it to deal with all the math they will be doing. Kari busies herself while doing some laundry as she waits for Christian to come to her place after his game. After a couple hours, Kari finds it weird how he hasn't called or texted. Now finished with her laundry, she starts studying by herself, hoping Christian will show up soon.
A couple hours later, she hears the buzzer go off. She buzzes the person into the apartment building and she waits for who she assumes to be Christian, to make his appearance. As suspected, Christian shows up at her front door with a dopey smile on his face.
"You're late!" Kari yells, smelling the booze on him.
"Sorry I forgot about coming here. It's just the Brandons came up to me after the game and said to join them at the bar and that the first round was on them. I couldn't say no and then before I knew it I was nursing a 4th beer. It wasn't until I got an email from our professor reminding us about the final that I remembered. I'm so sorry," he explains.
"Nice to know that you blew me off and your education for the team, the team that you see all the time! I get it that you have a contract and you have your obligations to the team but you bailed on me without even telling me anything! That's low, even for you Christian! I thought you were better than that! I thought you were different, but I guess I'm not good enough for you anymore!" Kari screams, chocking back tears.
"Kari love, I'm sorry. I know I fucked up, but what did I do that was so wrong?" he asks in confusion.
"I'm not even mad, Christian. I'm more disappointed than anything else," she replies.
She wants to tell him that she just wanted to spend time with him because she loves him, but decides not to. The pair stare at each other for a second, anticipating who will say or do something first.
"Fuck it," Christian mumbles before cupping her face and gently kissing her on the lips.
She remains frozen for a second before kissing back. They pull away after a few seconds and smile dopily at each other.
"What was that?" Kari asks breathlessly.
"I love you, Kari. I have for a long time now," he informs her, a blush flushing his cheeks.
"I love you too, Christian," she replies, causing him to smile even wider.
"So will you be my girlfriend?" he asks, biting his lip.
"Duh," she teases, kissing his cheek.
"We should probably study before we fail," Christian suggests.
"If you're lucky I meet even give you all the notes I took and all the problems I've solved already," she teases.
The two spend the rest of the night studying for the final, the final they both end up getting A's on

Hey Kari, sorry you had to wait forever and a night for this but I hope it was worth it. It was a little short, but I hope this is a case of quality over quantity. I hope you enjoy and if you don't, I'm sorry and I'll rewrite it for you. Love you lots like tequila shots
