Chiron and Kevin sit in silence as they make there way back to the hood. It's an uncomfortable silence due to no one knowing what to say after what just happened.
"You ain't never done nothing like that before, huh?" Kevin softly says to Chiron after he parks in front of Chiron's building.
No words escape the lips of Chiron. He just silently shakes his head.
Chiron gets out of the car and walks over to the drivers side. He and Kevin exchange farewells and Kevin reaches his hand out for a handshake. Chiron hesitantly shakes his hand, as the memories of what that same hand had just done minutes before, rush into his head.
Kevin then leaves as Chiron enters his home. He takes a moment to analyze the room and he spots his mother sleeping on the couch. Chiron and his mother don't have the best relationship, due to her drug addiction gradually getting worst. He still has enough love for her to cover her up with a blanket. Unfortunately this wakes her and it's evident that she's still high. She proceeds to tell him that he doesn't love her anymore, and reminds him that they are the only thing that each other have.
The next day Chiron is in school and it's lunch time. He expects to sit with Kevin, but Terrell, his main bully, beats him to it, causing him to sit somewhere else.
Terrell and Kevin's conversation leaves us in suspicion. Terrell reminds Kevin of middle school and all of the games that the boys use to play back then. A specific game that Terrell brings up is knock down stay down. Kevin soon recalls the game and even states that "He was the king of that shit". Terrell and Kevin end up agreeing that if Terrell points out a person for Kevin to knock out, he will.
When school is out, everyone is in the courtyard. Terrell begins circling someone like a hawk and gathering everyone in a circle to surround the person as well. He soon stops next to Kevin, and tells him to knock the person out. We soon find out that it's Chiron, who has his head held high as if to dare his best friend to hit him. Kevin hesitates, but people in the background keep pressuring him to do it and soon his fist connects with Chiron's cheek, causing him to stumble. Chiron gets back up, his pride at stake. He holds his head high, showing he isn't intimidated, but not a word leaves his lips, and his face stays hardened. Kevin punches him again, this time Chiron stays down a little longer giving Kevin the opportunity to try to tell Chiron to stay down. Kevin doesn't want to hurt Chiron, but Chiron's pride gets in the way and he stands back up. One last punch sends Chiron down, and Terrell and his crew push Kevin out of the way to jump Chiron. Kevin is shocked, but he doesn't help his friend out. Luckily for Chiron a teacher hurries and helps him.
Chiron sits in the principal's chair, bandages and blood on his face, and he holds an ice pack to his cheek. The Principal tries to get Chiron to give her the names of the other boys, but Chiron doesn't, and soon his emotions get the best of him and he breaks down. The principal tries to comfort him with words, but Chiron does not hear her. He doesn't hear anything. Rage, and hurt boils within him, and good judgment is out of the window. All he can think about is revenge.
Chiron stares in the mirror, after dipping his battered face in ice cold water. Revenge. He's finally reached his point. Maybe if Kevin, his most trusted friend, wouldn't have hurt him, what Chiron does next wouldn't have happened.
Determination and rage in the eyes of the bull that was Chiron, was all the startled people could see as he burst through doors, making his way to his destination. No thoughts of consequences were there, just pure hate, and the need to end his biggest problem. He reaches the classroom, and to everyone's shock, he grabs a chair and smashes it against Terrell's back. That wasn't good enough. He wasn't hurt enough. Not as much as he had caused Chiron to hurt. He takes whatever was left over from the chair, and gets one last crack on Terrell's body, that was now curled up on the floor. Chiron could have hit him again, if it weren't for the people who were now restraining him.
Chiron soon leaves the school, but escorted in handcuffs, and shoved into the back of a police car. This is how Chiron, part 2, ends. This incident caused Chiron to change drastically as a person. He becomes this hardened character, and drug dealer. How would Chiron have turned out if Kevin just said no and stood up for his Best friend?
