While Xian Xue is soaring through his joy, he sees something below that makes his joyous feeling turn to pain and dread. He sees below several men being tortured. He comes down to watch for a moment, confused by the scene in front of him. He has never seen anyone force pain onto another like this. He feels transfixed in place. The one inflicting these gruesome acts seems to tire of it though and soon all three bodies fall to the ground remaining motionless only to start disintegrating before his eyes.
The man turns to Xian Xue with an expressionless face. "Why are you watching me." Xian Xue doesn't know what to say and doesn't fully comprehend what has just happened, so he says nothing. The man frowns at the intruder. "Why dont you speak?" Still no answer comes from this man who seems to have appeared suddenly. "Who are you?" Finally something he can answer. "I am Xian Xue." More silence. The man finally gives in. He sighs. "I am She Mi." Xian Xue eyes go wide in recognition. He has heard this name from Yan Zhu. "You are the ice immortal!" The man's dull expression does not change. He continues to stare at the newcomer, unmoving.
"Do you enjoy what you do?" Now that he has experienced what he would describe as joy, he feels perhaps he should let others in on this new feeling and its benefits. It's now She Mi's turn to be speechless. He had never considered how he should feel. "Do I enjoy......., I'm in service to our God. My feelings don't enter into it." The idea of choosing or feeling anything had not entered his mind.
"I promise you that i will do all i can to bring feeling back to you." And with that he flew off. Just as quickly as he had come. Leaving behind a confused and now pensive man, used to torture, with new ideas coming to life.
As xian xue continues his flight through the skies, he stores away his promise as something he will accomplish one day. To Xian Xue, a promise does not need a timer. Since he considers Yan Zhu and She Mi to be of similar makeup to himself, he assumes they will always exist and therefor time has less meaning.
