Hidden Lotus

Not all is remembered about the hidden lotus.  Yuan Ji is the only one that truly knows all its secrets.  She Mi and Yan Zhu understand that it grants life and can revive those lost for a price.  But what they don't realize is that the hidden lotus only requires a price of she is used for selfish reasons.  The hidden lotus is not unkind but for thousands of years in partnership with Yuan Ji, she has seen the greed and cruelty of man.  The hidden lotus is not hidden out of Yuan Ji's greed.  She is hidden because no man should have access to that much power.  The hidden lotus had offered her services to Juan Ji long before mortals came to his realm, on the condition that he build her a safe and hidden area.  A garden for her to feed from and a place she could watch the stars while dormant.  In return she would grant him a wish every 10,000 years.  This is how much time it took her to recuperate after granting a wish.  During that time, she needed protection.

Yuan Ji had only ever used the hidden lotus for unselfish reasons.  At first, when the mortals started to forget to respect their god, Yuan Ji made a wish to the lotus to reward the loyal ones, over time creating different clans.  The first two being the ice and fire clan.  He later created the spirit clan, mermaid clan, bear clan and countless others.  He had created so many clans, noone know how many.  He had even created a clan for orphaned children, the lie clan, because he saw the need.  But in the end all these clans, with the origin of their powers also forgotten, turned on him in the end.  This was the catilist in his cruelty.  He had given them all he could, even the power of the lotus.  Even his two most trusted subjects falsly believed that his long life was due to the lotus.  Yuan Ji was a true god and did not need the lotus to survive.  He only wanted what all creatures want.  To be respected and loved.  But he was never rewarded this one thing.  He also never wished on the lotus for this one thing.
