The Lotus (continued)

Overtime, the hidden lotus had watched passively as her love granted unselfish wish after unselfish wish, trying to please the mortals. But they were never satisfied and never appreciated him. She knew he received no love from these mortals. How sad, she thought, that their love could never even begin. He had never even set eyes on her until she had already been tranformed to her lotus form permanently. Though he seemed to care for her, he did not share her feelings for him. But he also did not truly know who she was. She was a fallen goddess who broke her own rule and was now bound for eternity in punishement for her action.

However, she did have all of eternity to change some of her fate. She did not care so much about her own predicament as she wanted to make Yuan Ji true wish come true. To feel loved.

She might be trapped but her energy was not. Although it took 10,000 years to gather enough energy to grant a wish, she certainly always had a little in reserve for herself. She would find a way to send some of her energy out into the mortal world little by little to create someone for him to love. There was no guarantee that it would work in her favour, but it was worth trying. If she transfered a little of her spare energy in one place for long enough, she could reproduce herself. But this place had to be special. A place that could last for 10's of thousands of years. A place that would never disappear. She found this place in one of the clans. The mermaid clan.

When yuan ji had created the mermaid clan it was originally a safe house for women who had been abused, tortured, raped or gravely wronged. They had their own home where noone could reach them deep under the sea. They would possess eternal beauty. Any tears they produced out of sadness would only bring beauty in the form of pearls. And if they ever decided to take a mate, the tear from that union would produce a stone so precious that nothing could ever compare. Any children they had would have all these same abilities. Over time, like everyone else, the mermaids had forgotten their origin.

It was in the precious tear stones that the hidden lotus would store her energy. As new generations were born, this energy would get passed down over and over again until there was enough to produce another lotus. She wouldn't be a duplicate of the hidden lotus, nor would she have anywhere near the same power, but many of the same qualities the hidden lotus possessed, so would this new being. She would be unlike anyone else around her. She knew in her heart that this new being would be one that Yuan Ji would love to eternity.
