02: Frozen Creek

What was her reaction supposed to be? Run and hide or go home? No, no, no. That was not the case here for darling, Haven Jameson. Her mind whirled around a thousand miles per minute, her lungs were suffocating themselves as her heart pounded so hard it threatened to pop out of her chest. And these chills of a freezing breeze ran upon her spine forcing chicken skin to form on her delicate skin, this isn't happening.

It wasn't like Haven didn't want Hazel awake. It was the fact she was awake. Just some strange, twisted coincidence had occurred within the seconds of the day- that the fates claiming today was the day, today being their birthday for her light sensitive eyes to open after ten long years.

But that was when she felt it- the presence of that connection.

A surge of pain that shot through her body that resembled a mixture of electric shock and being burned alive. But, god the heat. She could already feel herself sweating from the monstrous amount of warmth that washed over her as she tried looking forward. The pastel blue walls of the abandoned, for the day, room were blurring, becoming one in a sense that she could no longer tell whether it was the wall with the food stands aligned or if it was the one with the clock and alarm. They were just all one big blob.

It was a strange feeling and utterly weird to remark about the colors, how she saw so many differing hues that it puzzled her. Something, that she could say, resembled abstract art like paints of neon upon warm and cool shades smeared together or splatted on. Then she was realized she was falling. When did her legs give out on her? She didn't know, but they felt so stiff but at the same time, like jello it ached so pain free.

And that is when the colors became pure shade of black as she hits the floor with a loud bang! But, it was so cool and cold, and felt so nice that even if she could get up, she wouldn't dare.  It was an image, though. That appeared before her like she was watching a T.V show flashback to a character's traumatic experience.

But that is what this was except it was hers.

The fire was burning to the stars within the sky, praying to shine as bright as them, but it needed more fuel- it hadn't reached the gas tank yet. Her mother, who was once is a stainless bright floral dress was covered in wet mud and blood from being thrown out of the car. Haven remembered that, she remembered the loud sound of the car rolling, she recalled her dads yelling, and her mothers shrieking screams...

She recalled looking at Hazel, whose blue eyes revealed the same fear as Haven. But, oh how Haven remembered that day as it burned in memory. Haven had been so angry with her. She had kept telling Haven that she had a very important secret. Something that she will never tell, but mom and dad knew.

Her mother told Haven not to mind it, that Hazel was just being a "know-it-all" like always though her father thought otherwise. But, Haven pushed it aside, ready to return home from visiting their grandparents from their fathers side in North State. She remembered that her grandpa had told her dad to just stay the night, that it was already late and it wasn't worth of a risk. But, they wanted to get home and decided to use the kids as an excuse to leave the safety of the land.

A soothing voice of a woman slithered through the speakers, she was their mother's favorite singer as well as theirs. Her name was a bit strange; however, hard to remember exactly but it was along the lines... Adellen? Edenel? Something like that, Haven decided.

The music flowed so softly and gracefully that even her father didn't mind the girlish music that engulfed his manly black truck- he just liked it when his girls were happy, even if Hazel hated to admit it.
