01: I Need A Doctor

"When is it enough?" that is the question that Haven wanted to ask as she sat in the uncomfortable back-breaking, velvet chair of Doctor Taylor's counseling office for what seemed like the hundredth time.

It wasn't new-the question, she thought of it often, wondering what the answer would be, "nothing?"- in mere hope the doc could actually give her a fully supported answer that will fill her mind with knowledge and understanding. If only that were the reality.

She watched Doctor Taylor's red plump lips continuously move as she pronounced alliterations, syllables, metaphors and similes, yet not a word had registered to the ears of Haven Jameson.

There was no point of her being here, Haven knew that and she was pretty sure the Doc knew that too. This was her parents- more like her mother that forced her to do this because of her distance . And it made her think- why didn't her mother just do it? Haven would prefer to off her own head than see the "wonderful" Doctor Maraline Taylor.

"Did you get that, Haven?" her voice was nearly nasty, croaking and manly like a smoker that made Haven cringe in her seat as she was again forced into reality. With the glimpse of that movement, Doctor Taylor shot up from her leather lounge from behind her wooden desk, revealing that brown pencil skirt of hers that is too short and tight for adult professionalism. Her grotesque legs sickeningly took her over to the black plastic book case full pamphlets that she had to give Haven at least one every week out of habit.

"I know you weren't paying attention again," she said in a mere snarky tone, but how could Haven pay attention to her? Her nose was in the air so high that her boogers were able to be seen and she didn't even listen to what Haven had to say in the first place, which was her purpose of being there Haven noted.

Her bony hands grasped two pamphlets- two that Haven had before, making her groan inside in agony. "Your parents need to see these, Haven," her musky voice stated in monotone as she handed Haven the two packets. With her brows narrowed, Haven clenched onto the pamphlets looking down to read their narcissist titles: ADHD for the Ill, Maybe It's Time for Discipline? and Teens Depressed, C'mon Parents! Give Us Your Attention!

Her blood began to boil as if she set on fire from hell. She didn't need these- she didn't need this dumb doctor, her health card should be thrown in this woman's face! Haven was fine, perfectly sane! She had lived like this for years, what would having a counselor do? A counselor was not simply able to pick up the pieces Haven was missing... especially if they were lost years ago.

Angered, Haven planted her two feet on the ground with a loud stomp; throwing the chair behind her a good three feet nearly hitting that dumb book case full of sickening booklets. Haven wasn't going to take it- not from her mother and definitely not from this woman.

Her hands crumpled the papers before she threw the damn pamphlets onto the Doctor Taylor's beaten up desk in anger. Quickly, she gripped onto her bag ready to strut out of the office without a word as Maraline Taylor stared at Haven with a shocked expression clear across her snotty face.

"Haven! What are you doing?" she shouted after her, but never moving her too big of feet in those too small high heels. Haven didn't answer as she snatched open the door to exit the rotten place; she didn't need this. She took care of herself before, so why should she need someone now?

"People with this condition suffer from fatigue."

She felt like shit to the full extent in which she wished she was ten feet underground in peace. But that would be too easy, she was a storm- her emotions, were an ongoing hurricane inside of her that never ends because if it did- what would she be? Where would she be?
