I stepped out of the blue box and looked around outside. We were in the cleanest alley way I have ever seen in my entire life. Even the flipping alley cats were well mannered! All I could think was, Well, I see getting rid of their youngest child has profited my family.
The Doctor stepped out behind me and looked at the cats. "Why in the world do those pest have shoes?!"
"Why do you think- this is a rich neighborhood. Everything here looks snotty and obnoxious." I rolled my eyes and walked ahead to get out of the alley. Once I could feel the sun rays on my arm, I lifted my hand above my eyes to cover the sun. "Doctor," I said. "Where are we?" He looked around and his eyebrows furrowed.
"Looks like Hollywood, California." He took a guess.
"Oh great, I'm living in a busted up apartment when my so called family is living with the richest people ever. Wait til I see their faces..." Doctor tapped my shoulder and pointed ahead of me.
"Is that them?" He asked. I followed the finger to see two fourty year olds playing with two little kids. Probably their grand children. And guess what?
Those were my parents and my niece and nephew.
I scurried behind the Doctor and leaped onto his back for safety. I was shaking in my skin and the Doctor noticed it.
"Are you scared? You weren't even scared of your boss!" He said smug.
"Shut up," I exclaimed/whispered. "They might see us! Back away slowly." The Doctor stuffed his hands in his pockets smiling and walked backwards back into the alley way. I pressed my eyes shut and grabbed onto the Doctor tight.
"Emily?" said the Doctor. I buried my face into his shoulder.
"What."
"You can let go of me now."
"I don't wanna." I whined. Doctor chuckled and walked into the TARDIS. He set me down in the space between the control panels.
"Okay, let's start this again." Doctor laughed. "Now allons-y! I believe you're family is in need of a piece of your mind!" He made a large gesture to the door and nodded. I shook my head like a two year old.
"No."
"Yes, now come on." He grabbed my hand.
"No, now stay here." I grabbed his arm and pulled him back.
"Emily, let's not be rash now. You're going to have to confront them sooner or later." Doctor said.
"Okay," I replied. "I choose... Later." Doctor grabbed my shoulders, forcing me to look him in the eyes.
"What happened the day the abandoned you." He asked me straight forward. My best poker face on, I sighed and began my story.
"It was my birthday. My 17th birthday. They said that they wouldn't beat me that day because I was aging a year so it was the most relived I was in years. They told me they were taking me for ice cream in a 'special place' a state away. I knew I shouldn't have believed them but I went with it anyways." I took a shaky breath. "They actually did take me for ice cream but not in the best place. It was nice, but not the best. I told them I needed to go the restroom and-"
"When you came back out, they were gone." Doctor finished. I nodded slowly.
"I felt absolutely horrible inside. I felt like I was about to throw up. I ran to the cashier and asked her where my family went. I remember her exact words. 'Sorry, hun. They just left.' I fell to my knees and cried. I just sat there crying. After that is kind of a blur but you get the gist." When I finished my story, my eyes were puffy and my face was soaked in tears. The Doctor wiped the part under my eyes to wipe away some tears.
"Come on, I'll be right next to you. I'll even hold you hand when you talk to them. I promise." I looked into his eyes and saw sincerity and sadness in them. I bit my lip unsure of what to say. "I'll give you a piggyback ride there." I smiled and shook my head playfully.
"Fine." He turned around and I grabbed onto his back, wrapping my legs around his waist. He used his hands to grab onto my legs and he kicked open the TARDIS door. Doctor Who started sprinting down the alley, turning left towards my parents.
