One Year Before
The stolen car Carly Chalkton followed swerved dangerously, darting onto the airway. She was an Australian Security Intelligence Service agent, determined to take down this son of a bitch. The driver in the navy sedan in front of her was a terrorist, and he had planted a bomb just a few minutes ago. There had been no time to wait for a bomb squad, and as she threw off her mask, forgot all about being undercover, she had managed somehow to cut the right chord. Now she was just trying to stop Demetri Black from escaping in a "borrowed" family car.
Suddenly, sirens blazed up front. They dashed out in front of the sedan. Carly was sure Black had second thoughts, but still he floored the gas pedal. One police car swerved away, and Black seized the chance to escaped through the hole in the barrier. The sedan hit one of the police cars, but Black gained control and drove off. There was more damage done to the police car than to the sedan.
Carly raced past the policemen, rapidly gaining on Black. Then she saw him. The complete idiot! Someone had grabbed onto the passenger's door and was now dangling off the sedan. What he trying to get himself killed? He was much stronger-brave and powerful, but no less stupid-than Carly had expected. He pulled himself up, opened the sedan door, and leaped in.
For a moment, everything was silent in Carly's world. Even the sirens were long gone. Then her car's engine roared as the sedan swerved all over. A plane was taking off and getting closer and closer. She drove off to the side while the still serpentining navy vehicle was barely missed by the plane's giant wheels.
The race continued, and Carly wasn't entirely sure what was happening now. Was the man who had jumped into the sedan on her side? Was he bad-gone-good? Carly was positive the two men were grappling as the sedan continued to snake. She floored the pedal on the right, and steadily caught up to the navy sedan when the driver suddenly slammed on the brakes. Carly looked back over her shoulder in time to see the unknown driver repeatedly slam Black's head into the dashboard.
He's killing him! Carly needed Black alive, though! She glanced into her rearview mirror.
The other police officers closed in on the navy sedan. Black must have gotten hold of the wheel because the large blue car slammed into one of the police cars. The impact made Black lose control once more, and the other man overthrew Black with ease now.
Carly made a sharp U-turn, and pulled into the sedan's direct path. She hopped out of the car as faster as her athletic legs would allow. The sedan's driver braked and was surrounded within seconds. Police men and women darted out of their cars to duck behind their car doors and hold up their guns.
The police ordered for both men to come out with their hands on their heads. They did as they were told, and Carly gazed upon the two beaten men.
Demetri Black was a young man of no more than thirty. He had a the physique of a football player, which not only gave him strength but also slowed him down. He had more width to him than height, though he was still very much above average. His dark hair was disheveled, his clothes dirty and worn. He looked as if he hadn't slept for days, which Carly wouldn't have been surprised if true. His normally prim mustache was overgrown and attached to a small beard. Black was all but ecstatic to be arrested.
The other man, the unknown hero, wasn't as pissed off as Black, but he was far from dancing around in glee when the handcuffs trapped him. He was tall and owned a pair of wide shoulders, though nowhere near as broad as Black. He'd been in the sun, for his skin was tanned and his brunette hair had light streaks in it. His blue eyes narrowed with agitation. He wore a tan v-neck t-shirt, camouflage pants, and a shoulder holster.
Without any human knowing, the man had saved her. If he had not come and stopped Black, Carly would have surely died, whether or not Black would have died. She also didn't understand that "the hero" wasn't some heroic man: he was a CIA agent. He was Special Agent Andrew Zachary Yampa, or at least that's what most people knew him as.
* What do you think so far??? How are the characters? How's my grammar? Leave a comment and hopefully the next chapter will be out soon ;) I put up a picture of Carly (Australian actress Rose Bryne) *
