"Edmund! Edmund, you'll freeze! Get back here!" The three Pevensie children were calling out for their brother, and even if it wasn't always obvious, Phoebe could hear how much they cared for him in their voices.

"Stop it! All of you! There's no use you going after him now!" Peter's gaze flashed back to the beavers, helplessness written clear as day across his features. Although, he did look determined. "The queen wants all of you, he's the bait!" Peter cocked his head to the side. Clearly he didn't understand what they were playing at.

"What do you mean, 'bait'? He's our brother, he did something stupid, and we have to go get him before he does something worse!" It was Peter's turn to sound distressed. Well, Phoebe supposed she'd heard him angry, but never this distraught.

"Don't you see? She wants to kill you so she can stop the prophecy from coming true and stay ruling over Narnia for Aslan knows how long! You're playing right into her hands if you go after him now." The three Pevensies looked devastated. Susan's features were twisting themselves into an expression of anger.

"Peter! This is your fault!" Peter whipped his head around to face her, madness flashing over his gaze. He looked dangerous, like some kind of wild animal.

"What on Earth do you mean, Susan? My fault?" Peter's voice was low, the anger in it evident. Lucy slowly backed away from her two siblings, coming to rest next to Phoebe.

"If you'd just listened to me and we'd left, none of this would've happened!" Anger was flashing across Susan's eyes now.

"So you knew this would happen? You knew Ed would betray us? Then why, pray tell, didn't you make us leave when we still bloody could?" Susan glared at him, and Peter was shooting daggers (or maybe something sharper, like full swords) at her with his gaze. Phoebe had a feeling that these two probably fought a fair amount.

"I tried! I tried to get you all to see sense, but Lucy wanted us to go off and meet some faun, and now we're here! It's not my fault you didn't listen! That's all on you, Peter!" Susan's voice was climbing higher and higher, and Phoebe thought this shouting match might go on indefinitely if none of them interrupted.

"Stop it, both of you! Standing here shouting in the cold won't help Ed!" Lucy's voice was surprisingly loud, and it cut through the charged atmosphere between the two older Pevensies.

"She's right, you know." Mrs. Beaver's motherly voice came from behind the four - if Phoebe was honest, she'd almost forgotten the she-beaver existed. "Only Aslan can help you and your brother now." Phoebe noticed something shift then. A familiar set in Peter's shoulders, him standing just a little bit more upright, a stance that made him look like a leader. Shame he was such a stubborn brat, she supposed. Otherwise, he might actually make a decent king. Might.

"Then take us to him, Beaver. Please." Both beavers nodded, but before they could reply, a large howl came from the castle they'd just seen Ed enter. Wolves. The secret police of the White Witch. The panic set in before Phoebe could fully process.
