Eleanor

"Bring me another." I demanded, tossing the remainder of my martini down my throat.

The maid returned with a pink cocktail dress.

"Did I ask for pink?" I seethed. "No!" I threw my empty glass at the maid. Unfortunately the maid leapt out of the way, scurrying away to fetch a dress that was hopefully more to my taste.

"Eleanor dear, there are only so many dresses in this world." My mother didn't look up from the magazine in her lap.

"Then I'll wear a pantsuit or something. Just as long as Riley is mine again."

My mother sighed, licking her finger before turning the page. "Are you really going to talk about this again dear?"

"But mother, he proposed to me." I showed her the engagement ring looped through a chain around my neck. "He loved me, he loves me. But his student is using her Faerie magic on him."

"Mhm." My mother wasn't even paying attention.

"He will be mine, he was always mine." I poured myself another drink as another dress was presented.

"Mhm."

I sent my mother a deathly look before shifting my gaze to the dress before me. The maid held a skintight black dress, with a high-necked collar and ended just above the knees. I stood up, stepping up to the dress to feel the fabric.

"This will do." The maid nodded before leaving.

"Oh." My mother hummed loudly.

I turned. "What?"

"It appears this student you speak of is in an article."

I raced to my mother, snatching the magazine from her hands. There was a large photo of the Uisneach choir, holding a trophy and another of Isla standing forefront, in a beautiful dress before the microphone. I scanned the article, holding back vomit at how much the journalist had fawned over the group and Isla's angelic cords. At the bottom of the page was another photo of the group. I squinted to see who was in the background and my blood boiled.

"My dear Riley." I glared at his blurry figure.

"It appears their discovery has only brought them closer." My mother added.

"I can see that." I snapped.

"Control yourself dear." My mother stood, standing tall in heels. "A Taylor is never jealous. Or for the matter, a primadonna." She strutted out of my room.

I turned away from where she had left, my eyes settling on the fireplace. I smirked as I tossed the magazine into the roaring flames. Soon, soon Riley and I would be together again.

April

"It's chaos here, I need you." I raised my voice so Isla would be able to hear me through my phone.

"I told you I'd be there by lunch." She replied.

"I need you here now!" I tried to get out of the foyer but was shouldered back in by the thick clusters of relatives. "I'm going to die of suffocation."

"April."

"Please." I resorted to begging. "Stop sucking face with your boyfriend-or worse-and be here now!"

Isla huffed on the other end of the line, clearly disgruntled. "Fine." She hung up.

I stuffed my phone back into my pocket before some blood related wench could take it from me. I headed for the exit, weaving between fold out tables and waiters. I didn't want to get roped into doing anything.
