Chapter 21: Blinded by Love

Mrs. *****: "Excuse me po sir, ako nga pala si Aleiya Terubanan ina ni Jan Terubanan."

Mr. *****: "Nice to meet you maam. Ako nga pala si Renold Letada at ito naman po ang aking asawa si Emily Letada."

Mrs.Letada: "Nice to meet you po Mrs. Terubanan. So hows your son?"

Mrs.Terubanan: "Ok na po siya. For now he just need time to recover."

Mrs.Letada: "I see. Well Im glad to hear that... I guess its time for us to go..."

Mrs.Terubanan: "Excuse me but, nakakain na po ba kayo? If you want lets all have dinner together."

Mrs.Letada: "If you dont mind.."

Mrs.Terubanan: "It would be my pleasure."

Mr.Letada: "Well mauna na kayo. I have things to do, magkita nalang tayo sa bahay honey."

Mrs.Terubanan: "Youre not going to eat with us Mr.Letada?"

Mr.Letada: "Im sorry Mrs.Terubanan pero marami pa kasi akong aasikasuhin. Well if you will excuse me."

Mrs.Letada: "Ok hon. Ingat."

Mrs.Terubanan: "Well lets go?"

*On the table eating*

Mrs.Terubanan: "Im sorry about your daughter."

Mrs.Letada: "No, it was her choice. She knows shes not going to live long enough."

Mrs.Terubanan: "In behalf of my son. Im really sorry."

Mrs.Letada: "No dont be. Despite sa lahat ng nangyari he did something to make me forgive all of his sins."

Mrs.Terubanan: *Crying* "Im. Really sorry. Hindi ko talaga alam na ganun na pala ang nangyayari, I was a failure being a mother! I focused all my time to my work to make him live a life of fortune and happiness. I never got a chance to talk to him, to teach him, to watch him grow. I failed being his mother.. And because of that I destroyed someones life! I, Im really sorry Mrs.Letada! Im really sorry!"

Mrs.Letada: "No Mrs.Terubanan. Youre not a failure being a mother. You raised him alone, you gave him a better life, you made him happy! Anong parte ba jan ang naging failure ka as a mother? Wala! So please dont blame yourself, its normal. Things like this happen all the time."

Mrs.Terubanan: "No, no, no. I never heard the full story of what happen, until now. So Why? Why did you say that? Bakit niyo pinalabas na hero ang anak ko? You knew what was going on, so bakit niyo sinabing niligtas ng anak ko ang anak niyo? Dont act na normal lang to lahat! Tell me! TELL ME WHY!"

Mrs.Letada: *Sinampal si Mrs.Terubanan* "YOU THINK WERE NOT AFFECTED BY ALL OF THIS?! Galit na galit kami sayo, no. Galit na galit kami sa anak mo! We despise him! Gusto namin siyang mamatay! If it werent for Mika matagal na naming sinira ka Mrs.Terubanan but because of her we kept quiet."

Mrs.Terubanan: "Because of.. Mika?"

Mrs.Letada: "Yes. Because of Mika pinipilit namin ang aming mga sarili na patawarin si Jan. Because of Mika, we try to carry on na parang walang nangyari, and because of Mika we try to hold back our tears. You know how that feels Mrs.Terubanan? Its very painful! To see na ang taong pumatay sa anak ko is being kept alive by my very own daughter, It hurts like hell Mrs.Terubanan. Like hell!"

Mrs.Terubanan: "But... But why?"

Mrs.Letada: *Huminga ng malalim* "You know Mrs.Terubanan, Mika was a very cheerful girl. Everyday she would walk up to us with a smile and hug us both my husband and she would say with the sweetest voice in the world, "I love you Mommy and Daddy". She meant the world to us. She was an angel. Mika was also a very imaginative girl. Ever since she was a little girl she would always write a lot of stories about her prince charming or about her true love, she was very interested in the idea of love. To see her like that makes me think that what did we ever do to deserve her. But we didnt know that a single day would take all those smiles and laughter away. She was in High school at that time, it was summer. Mika was reading in living room while I was cooking in the kitchen.
