(Ryder's POV)
The bright, morning sunshine coming through the blinds wakes me up. I open my eyes and realize that I'm in Hunter's arms.
This is the best way to wake up!
I look up to see Hunter's eyes closed. He's still sleeping. Seeing him reminds me that it's his 17th birthday. I haven't been able to get him anything because of my coma and whatnot. Honestly, I feel really bad about it. Carefully, I wiggle my way out of Hunter's arms and sit up in bed. After grabbing my crutches, I stand up and make my way to the door. The door is cracked open just a bit, so I just pull it open. I make my way from the hallway to the kitchen. I'm hungry, but I don't know where anything is. So, I just sit at the dinning room table, and wait for someone to come out. Just as I sit in down, I hear a door open and then close a few seconds later. I turn my head towards the hallway to see who it was. A moment later, Lynette walks out of the hallway with a teacher's cart.
"Good morning, Ryder," she greets.
"Morning," I greet back with a smile.
"What are you up too?" she asks, while waking over to the front door where her shoes are.
"I was just waiting for someone to come out here. I'm hungry, but I don't know where any thing is."
"Well," Lynette slips on her second shoe before finishing and walking into the kitchen,"the cereal and things like that are over in the cupboard to the right of the stove, the bowls and plates are in the one to the left, and the silverware is in the drawer by the fridge."
"Thank you, Mrs. Hayes." I stand up and make my way to the cupboard to get a bowl.
"You're welcome. By the way, you can call me Lynette," she stated with a smile.
"Alright then. Thank you, Lynette."
"Well, I better go wake up Hunter and make sure Leo's ready for work."
"Okay."
She starts making her way back to the hallway when an question pops into my head.
"Lynette?"
She stops and turns around. "Yes, Sweetie?"
"Are you guys doing anything special for Hunter's birthday, tonight?"
"We're making his favorite food and we're having cake and things like that. That's the way Hunter likes it."
I nod my head and go back to making my breakfast.
About 2 minutes later, all the Hayes family comes out of the hallway. Hunter comes into the kitchen with me, while Leo and Lynette headed out the door. I turn my head and look over at Hunter. His blonde hair is a mess and his usual blue eyes are a dark, blueish-blackish color like mine.
"You sleep okay?" I ask.
"Yeah. I actually slept better after you came in."
"Oh. Anyway, happy birthday," I said.
"Thanks," Hunter replyed.
I finish pouring the milk into my bowl of Frosted Flakes, and put it back in the fridge.
"Crap," I utter.
"What's wrong?" Hunter questioned.
"I can't carry my bowl over to the table. I need both of my hands to use my crutches."
"I can move it for you," Hunter offered. He stood up and walked towards me.
"Thank you."
"Your welcome."
