The next day I woke up still in my clothes from dinner. There was a loud banging at my door . I had a throbbing headache and whoever was causing all this noise was gonna get my wrath. I grabbed my phone to check the time and I saw I had 11 missed texts and 6 missed called from Lee. I sat the phone down and stood up storming to the door.
I opened it in a huff to see Lee standing there lookin sheepishly at me. I moved aside to let him in while I took a few deep breaths.
"I'm so sorry Tati I didn't mean to stand you up. Something important and unexpected came up and and I should've called but my minds was soo...." he ranted on stuttering over his words.
"Stop" I said as I held my hand to him. "I don't even want to hear it. You're not dead and that's the only excuse acceptable for leaving me sitting at a restaurant blowing you up for two hours" I said placing my hands on my hips lookin in his eyes.
He hung his head and sat on the couch taking his face into his hands.
"I need to tell you something baby. And I know it's going to change the dynamic of our friendship but I have to be honest with you" he said.
"Friendship?" I asked raising my eyebrows. "Is that what this is? Oh ok. Go ahead"
He sighed loudly as he said " yesterday my ex came over and dumped on me that she was pregnant. I haven't seen her since I've been seeing you and now she comes telling me she's 6 months pregnant. I honestly don't know if the kid is mine but I think we should stop seein one another until I figure this out" he said looking down.
I don't know when I had started crying but I was now sobbing loudly as a wave of emotions I didn't know I had escaped me. "It's cool , it's fine, I understand" I said as I stood up. "Thank you for telling me the truth. You can leave now." I said easing towards the door.
He followed behind me grabbing me from behind. I felt tears on the back of my neck as he apologized over and over again.
"It's fine" I said again. Shrugging him off and opening the door.
"Goodbye Tati. I'm so sorry I really do care about you " he said.
"Yea Lee. I'm sorry too" I said before closing the door. I couldn't believe it. Even though I knew about the woman and the potential of a child I didn't expect him to end things. A part of me felt rejected and hurt. Here I was again sad and lonely. I had fallen for Lee that fast. We spent nearly every day together since the day we met. And on the days we weren't physically together we FaceTimed and texted all day. I was going to miss him so much. But hey life goes on or at least we have to pretend it does.
