Alyssa's POV:

It was the day after Greg proposed to mom and I honestly couldn't be happier. Part of the reason that I was happy was because I would obviously get to be maid of honour. At least it was Saturday today, so Greg would be coming round and we would all start planning the wedding together. I woke and widened my eyes at the fact that it was already eleven-thirty and Greg would be coming over at twelve. I quickly brushed my teeth and slapped some deodorant under my armpits. No time for a shower. I pulled a pair of sweats on and an old Mickey Mouse sweater. I pulled my hair into a messy bun and ran downstairs to eat a few cookies for breakfast. I was met by Tori in the kitchen who had dug into a Continental breakfast.

I pouted. "Aw, I want some!" I whined, making a beeline for the croissants. Tori slapped my hand away. "Hey! Get your nasty hands off my pancakes. There's pancake mix in the cupboard." She scolded. I scowled at her and munched angrily on my cookie. Tori smirked at me. Suddenly we heard the doorbell ring. Really loudly, must I add. Mom called from upstairs: "Alyssa and Tori, if that's Greg at the door, tell him I'll be there in a minute!" Eager to see Greg because he is just fabulous, Tori and I bounded to the door and scrabbled to open it. Of course, it was Greg standing there with a wide grin and a bouquet of lilies, my mom's favourite flowers. As I said, he's just fabulous.

"Greg!" Tori and I both squealed like little girls.

"Hey, girls. How are you?" Greg greeted.

"We're good! How are you?" I asked politely.

"Still kinda surprised that your mom said 'yes' last night." He admitted.

I smiled at him and Tori and I ushered him to the living room. Mom jogged down the stairs a few minutes later in her tracksuit and her hair scraped back into a ponytail.

"Hey." She smiled at Greg, giving him a quick peck on the cheek. He returned the greeting and presented her with the bouquet of lilies.

"Aw, Greg! Thank you so much! So, are we looking for venues today?"

"Of course. We have an appointment at the first venue in about an hour or two, and it's a pretty fancy place, so you may want to get out of your sweats." He replied to all of us. We nodded and rushed upstairs to get ready. I settled for a pink peplum top and a pencil skirt. I made sure to hide that embarrassing tattoo that I got on my wrist just to annoy my dad. I walked back downstairs with Tori and waited for Mom to come back downstairs. Soon enough, she came downstairs, wearing one of her suits back from when she was a secretary. We hopped into Greg's car and drove to the venue. Little did I know that the venue was almost an hour away from where we lived. Oh well. At least we had a fun time on the way there. Greg's niece left her Frozen soundtrack in his car, so we sang along to that. We finally arrived at the venue which turned out to be a castle. "Woah." I breathed. I'd never seen a place like this in my entire life. I didn't even know castles existed in America. The walk to the front door alone took us about five minutes. We saw that the door was already open, so we stepped inside.

"Hello?" My mom called. "Is anyone there?"

An old lady in a smart business suit who looked like my grandma Juliette shuffled out from a different room.

"Oh. Hello." She whispered. "Were you the people who were looking for a wedding venue?"

"Yes, we are." My mom replied, straining to hear the old woman's voice.

"I'm sorry, but our castle will not be open to the public anymore." She whispered again.

"And why is that?" Greg asked cautiously.
