Chapter 5

*Alexander’s POV*

I was sitting in my office, trying to get the thought of someone breaking Cecelia’s heart out of my mind. Was it a guy? One her friends? I couldn’t stop thinking about it. My desk phone started to ring. I answered.

“Hello?” I asked.

“It’s Beta Charles. Some wolves were walking on the 2nd floor when they smelt some blood. They came straight to me and I need permission to check it out.” He said.

“Ok-” I cut myself off. The 2nd floor is where the guest room Cecelia is staying in is. “Wait, don’t.” I said, dread flooding through me.

I hung up and ran out the door as fast I could. I caught the smell of blood and as I got closer the smell got stronger. I recognized some of that scent as my mate’s. I sped up, sprinting down the hallway. I pounded on her door and didn’t get in answer. I swear, if someone hurt her I was kill them slowly.

I brought my foot up and kicked down the door. There on the floor was Cecelia, unconscious. She had a razor blade in her hand and her wrists were sliced up.

“Fuck!” I cursed, running to the bathrooms to get paper towels. I put them on her wounds to try and stop the bleeding. She had done this to herself.

I picked her up bridal style and kissed her head as I ran to my room down the hall. I put her on my bed. I ran to the infirmary to find gauze and tape. I found them both in a cabinet. I sprinted back to my room and wrapped up her arms. Why would she do this? I went back to the guest room to clean the blood.

I threw away the razor blade and started to get the blood off the floor where she had been laying unconscious. I went back to my room and saw her still lying there on my bed. I got in next to her, putting her legs under the covers and mine still out. I rubbed her head. Why would she do this to herself?

It hurt me that I wasn’t there for her. I put my hands through my hair, sighing. I wasn’t there for her when she was at her weakest. How terrible of a mate was I? She wasn’t leaving my sight for a while, I’ll tell you that.

I felt her stir next to me, and I immediately looked down. “Cecelia?” I asked, trying to get her to wake up. She groggily moaned and opened her eyes slowly. I let out a breath of relief.

“God dammit Cecelia! You scared the living shit out of me!” I yelled, taking her in my arms. I wasn’t planning on letting her go for a while. If any guy came in here right now, they would be on the ground before they could take a breath.

“I’m sorry.” She said, and then I felt a wet drip on my shoulder. She was crying. I wrapped her in my arms tighter.

“Shhh, everything’s okay. I’m right here.” I said, lifting her chin up and wiping some of her tears away.

“I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to do it.” She sobbed. My heart broke into a million pieces.
