Phoebe's POV
"Phoebe, baby, please arrange this files in the storage room down in the ground floor," Mitchel asked kindly while passing me a few files. I smiled at him and headed towards the storage.
This room is surrounded by dozens of lockers, each having piles of files, arranged alphabetically. The files in my hand started from J and my eyes could barely discern the letter J in all this file mess.
I opened the drawer carefully not to break anything and searched the right spot in order to put the files in. While I was doing that my eyes landed on a file that wrote Juvenile, on the outside.
Curiosity ran through my body, as my mind realized that this file might be related to the weird incident that happened when Clinton Cave stepped in here. Even though my mind was debating whether I should pick it or leave it, the fast beating of my heart gave out my true intentions.
I picked the file carefully and read the date in the corner of the front page. Only a year ago, that seemed quite strange.
It was a document about a prisoner being transferred from juvenile to jail. All the signatures were familiar as they all belonged to the one and only Mitchel Cave.
I flipped the page and read the name of the prisoner that was transferred. Shyla Burton. Wait that was a news headline a year ago. The reporters sold all of their souls to just get a picture of that girl since someone tried to cover the case really hard. Someone, really prestigious and rich.
So this girl, Shyla, killed a woman named Angeline something, I don't remember her surname. The reasons were never really confirmed even though a lot of people claimed it was because of a relationship Shyla had with her close to being Angeline's husband. It was hard to believe it though since Shyla was clearly underage and Angeline would almost be thirty. This case made the headlines for a while since it was a great sponsor of books such as "teenage behavior" or psychologist eminent to adolescents. Really bad, if you ask me since people are looking to make money at every chance given.
How could all of these be connected to Mitchel though? And then my mind started running like a marathoner would.
There's a huge gap in this story. Angeline's groom. We never got his real name, just some phone calls and blurred images of them being together and having fun. Now that I'm thinking about it, his voice on the news always appeared to be pixelated as if he didn't want anyone else to find who he was. Only one show ever gave information about him, making suspicions that he is around twenty-eight or so, and very rich. Still stating the obvious. Still trying to hide this guy's true identity. Even though I might as well have found him.
Every piece was now connected. When Clinton and Mitchel were chatting, they were talking about someone in jail and someone under the female gender. The description fits perfectly as the date of her transfer was long before that.
Mitchel and I had this conversation before, about him being in an underage relationship. He almost admitted that this was very toxic due to the fact that it got him into a lot of trouble.
These all are leading to one and only great deduction. Shyla and Mitchel were in a forbidden by all aspects relationship, something happened and they broke up, probably Mitchel getting his conscience back to his brain. Shyla probably didn't get it well and she killed Angeline. That's a lot of thinking in one day.
My feet could barely move from all the dizziness coming from discovering Mitchel's secret past and possibly the reason he's this cold and closed to himself.
Without realizing I was behind the creame colored gate, separating Mitchel and me only some insignificant inches. Without even knocking I stepped into his office, while his eyes showed confusion. I don't know what to say to him at this point, now that I know all of this but I'm not the kind of person to leave it all on myself.
"Phoebe, are you alright?" He asked concerned. His gaze was glued to mines, anticipating the time I started explaining the sudden entrance of mines and the much-worried face I wore.
How to put it out in a way that wouldn't be too steep. I guess he's very hurt about all of these, but still, why would he conceal his own footsteps so hard in this story. This is very selfish of him. Mitchel plays a major role in Angeline's death and instead of taking his responsibilities and admitting what happened just to sooth her unfairly lost soul, he only tries to hide his image.
"Phoebe, I'm actually concerned. Are you alright?" Mitchel asked, his eyebrows raising sympathetically at me.
How do you put this out? How do you ask such a question? Do you put it out like a bomb about to explode or in a softer way?
I sighed, big, heavily. I looked right into his eyes which were filled with concern only to change at the sentence that slipped my mouth the next seconds. "Who is Shyla Burton?"
oh shit, she found out. how's mitchel going to react? is he really selfish and irresponsible or just very hard. vote to find out and leave a comment, obviously if you want ❤️ see you soon. {don't try this ep}
