21~I Hope So

This is at the same time as a few chapters ago when Jacob escaped

"His first day out, and we have to go to court" Derek said

"At least he's allowed to go home right" Carrie said as she showed Derek all the basics of taking care of a baby

"Right" Derek smiled as he pulled a baby grow over Luca's head, Luca let out a small cry and opened his eyes and calmed down as he saw Derek, "Hi, hi" he said tickling Luca's belly

"Your gonna be good at this" she said, Derek looked at her and smiled

"I am pleased to announce by the court of Beacon Hills California that Derek Steven Hale, is now the legal guardian of Thomas Jamie Hale, Cora Talia Hale and Luca Oliver Hale" (Sorry I don't know how this actually works) he said banging the gavel, Derek turned around to look at his siblings and smiled pulling Thomas and Cora into a hug

"Does this mean your our new daddy?" Cora asked

"Well not technically" Derek smiled

"Congrats man" Stiles said hugging him

"Thanks" he pulled back and looked at Stiles, those deep, bright brown eyes that drew him to Stiles at the start, he was pulled out of his trance with a hug

"Honey, your gonna be great" Melissa said

They spent the next ten minutes hugging one another before they had to leave the room. They exited the court, Derek holding onto Luca in his car seat. They all walked down the stairs and as Derek was about to walk over to Melissa's car Noah called him back.

"Where you going kid, your cars that way"

"What do you mean my car?" Derek asked with a grin, Noah threw him the keys

"Now I knew your dream car is a Camaro but I didn't think you'd want that with a baby" Noah said, Derek clicked the button on the keys and heard a beep behind him, he turned around to see a....

"This is a White 2016 Maserati Ghibli" Derek said running his hand across the top

"Wowww" Thomas said opening the passenger door "This is cool, it's got red seats and everything"

"Thank you, this means a lot" Derek said

"No problem, you deserve it" Melissa said

Derek went to open the back door to see that the clip to put the car seat in was already there, he carefully clipped him in and shut the door.

"I'm coming with you" Thomas said getting into the passenger seat and closing the door

"Me too" Cora yelled as she ran over to the other side

4:00 am

Derek woke to the sound of Luca crying, he got straight up and went over to his cot and picked him up, laying him down in his arms.

"Hey baby, sshh, sshh, I'm here it's okay" Derek said as he made his way downstairs to the kitchen "You want some milk? Yeah, okay" he said as he got out some formula "Here you go" as he sat down holding the bottle in Luca's mouth

"What time is it?" Stiles voice was heard coming into the room

"I'm sorry did he wake you?" Derek asked

"It's fine" he said sitting in a chair opposite laying his head down on the table, they sat there for a few minutes in silence before Stiles asked what he'd been dreading "So how's Adam?"

"He's......fine" Derek said as he paused to think of something to say

"How's things between you two?"

"Eh" Derek said, they both fell back into a silence and after another couple minutes Derek spoke up "We decided to stay friends" he blurted out

"What? Why?" Stiles asked in a concerned voice but he was dancing inside

"He just wasn't the right person for me you know, I just didn't wanna drag him along when I knew there was nothing for us" Derek said

"Yeah, I know how you feel" Stiles muttered

"You mean Lydia?" Derek asked

"Yeah, I mean I've been waiting for Lydia for years and now I have her it's like, I don't feel the way about her the way I'm supposed to feel" Stiles told him

"What do you mean?"

"I mean how did you know that you liked guys?" he said keeping his head down

"I guess I was with a few girls back in New York, I even had feelings for some of them, then there was this one guy that I met and he kissed me, I realised in that moment that when we kissed it felt just as right as kissing a girl" Derek said

"Right but how do you separate attraction from feelings?" Stiles asked looking up at Derek

"All I can tell you is one day you'll look up at one person and realise that you've never felt that way with anyone else and you can't explain it, all you know is how you feel" Derek smiled at Stiles, and he smiled back at him. Stiles stayed quiet for a moment trying to figure out his words and Derek could tell his head was all over the place "Stiles, you wanna tell me something?"

"Have you ever liked someone so much that being around them just makes you wanna explode" Derek nodded his head "Derek I uh...I think I might-"

"Like boys" Derek finished his sentence "What makes you think that?"

"This boy" Stiles smiled at Derek "And I don't know how to tell him"

"Does he like you?" Derek asked

"I hope so" Stiles said standing up, he said a quick goodnight to Derek and made his way upstairs afraid if he stayed down there any longer he would have pounced onto Derek, which would have not been good since he has a baby in his arms.

Derek watched as Stiles left the room and once he was gone he looked down at Luca to see he's finished his bottle, he smiled down at him and said "I guess not all of us can have the thing we love"
