Light streams through the window and somehow makes its way into my eyelids.

I open my eyes and blink to adjust to the light. My hand instinctively reaches beside me, just to see if Louis is there or not. I am met with disappointment when I discover that his side of the bed is empty and cold, as if no one has been there for a few hours.

He must be recording at one of the studios around here, but I have no idea where it is.

I rub my eyes and sigh, getting out of bed and stretching. I jump at a noise that I hear coming from outside the bedroom.

This hotel room is so big, someone could easily be in here and I wouldn’t know it.

“Hello?” I call out, hoping for a response.

No one answers.

My palms start to sweat in nervousness and fear. Maybe it’s a cleaning lady?

I hear something else drop in the kitchen area, and I gasp at the noise.

Someone is definitely in here, and I don’t think it’s a cleaning lady.

“Hello?” I try again, but get the same response. I grab the first thing my hands can find to possibly defend myself—a hairdryer.

It will have to do.

I slowly make my way towards the kitchen, my hairdryer in one hand. I say nothing and stay very quiet, hoping not to alert the person that is in my hotel room. I turn the corner to get into the kitchen, and I hear more noises.

Another dish is dropped on the floor.

I prepare myself for the worst. I quickly round the corner and lift the hairdryer up in defence. I scream when I see a man standing in the kitchen.

He turns around, and I’m surprised when I see that the man is Louis. His eyes go wide and he gasps in horror at my defensive stance.

“Louis?” I ask with furrowed eyebrows, confused and embarrassed. My chest moves up and down quickly with each breath I take. My heart is beating fast from the fear that I was just experiencing.

He knits his eyebrows together. “Sam? What are you doing? Why do you have a hairdryer? And why the hell are you screaming?” He walks over to me and puts his comforting hands on my shoulders.

I put the hairdryer down, and hang my head low in embarrassment. “I thought someone was in the hotel room.” I chuckle at my idiocy.

Louis lifts my hand with the hairdryer in it. “What were you going to do with this; blow them in the face until they give up?” He laughs at me.

I cover my red face with my hands. “It was the first thing I grabbed.”

We can’t help but laugh at my stupidity.

“It’s just me, Sam.” He chuckles, rubbing my arms soothingly.

I smile up at him, feeling less embarrassed. “What was that noise then?”

He runs a hand through his hair. “I was trying to make breakfast for you before you woke up.” He confesses, his cheeks turning pink.

I put the hairdryer down on the counter and wrap my arms around Louis’ neck. “Louis, we’re in a hotel. They serve breakfast here.” I giggle at him.

“Well, excuse me for trying to be romantic.” He says sarcastically. “I just wanted to make a nice breakfast for you.”

“I nearly attacked you with a hairdryer two minutes ago. How romantic is that?” I joke and bury my face into his chest, laughing.
