The next morning, I woke up to a knock on my door.

What the hell happened last night??

The knock came again, so I groaned and yelled, “Come in.” It caused a huge pounding in my head.

Next thing I know, Jordi’s coming into my room with a cup of tea. “Hey, I brought this for you.” She said sweetly.

“Thanks,” I said, sitting up in bed.

“You know, you were really drunk last night.”

“Yeah, I kind of figured from the huge headache I have,” I said sarcastically. “What happened last night?”

“Oh, stuff. James took some videos of you and the guys.”

“Guys? What guys?”

“The guys of One Direction. They’re still passed out on the couch, I think. I haven’t gone downstairs just because they annoy me so much.”

“Oh, Lord, help us all! They were here?”

“Yup, and they still are.” she stated matter-of-factly.

“And… there are videos of my drunk partying?”

“Oh yeah.” she said, smiling evilly.

I buried my head in my pillow and groaned.

“Oh, and you’re kind of dating James, by the way.” She said, running away.

“What?!” I screamed, following her out of my room.

I don’t care how much it made my head pound, I needed answers! Oh wait… OW! My head!!!

My running down the hall turned into speed walking, then just walking, and then sliding across the wall for support, and then I ended up crawling.

Jesus, my head hurts like hell! I must have been really drunk last night.

“Sammi?” I looked up to see who was calling my name. And of course, it was James.

“James, can… Can you help, please?” I asked, reaching a hand out for help.

He grabbed my hand, pulling me up. As he snaked an arm around my waist, I leaned on his chest for support. My legs felt like jelly and my head was spinning round and round.

He led me down the stairs and into the lounge room.

I saw the guys of One Direction passed out on the floor and on the couches. Some of my schoolmates were here, too, sleeping. And James was standing in front of me as he sat me down on a couch.

“James, I’m so confused. What happened last night???” I asked.

Sammi walked into the room at that moment, carrying a bottle of water.

“I’ll just give you guys some priv-” I cut her off before she could walk away.

“No, Jordi, stay.” I said, pointing to the couch so she could sit.

“You know, I would. But being in a room with passed out people is a little bit creepy.” She said sarcastically.

“Does this look like a face that cares?” I asked jokingly.

“I stand corrected. What do you want, Sammi?”

“What do I want? I want a unicorn with sparkles and marshmallows!” I said sarcastically. “I want to know what happened last night.”

“I was only there for part of the time. But what I know is that you, Harry, Louis, and James were trying to prank me. It looks like you got everyone else, too.”

I looked closer at everyone. The majority of them had marker-drawn mustaches, a unibrow, and goatee. Some even had what looked like whipped cream on their face and I couldn’t help but giggle.

“Yeah, and I got some priceless videos of you talking nonsense,” James said.

“Aw, butts. This is so embarrassing.”

“It was pretty funny.”

“And,” I cleared my throat. “We’re, like, dating?” I asked quietly.

He looked down at his hands. “Um, that’s what you said, but you were really drunk, so.” He mumbled.

“I, um…”

“It’s ok, you were drunk. I understand if you don’t like me that way.”

“It’s not that I don’t like you like that. It’s, I think, I’m afraid to lose you.” I whispered the last part.

“You won’t lose me for anything, Sammi. We’re best friends, remember?”

“But…” I didn’t know how to respond. “You’re right. Best friends forever.”

“Promise?”

“I cross my heart and hope to die, then stick a needle in my eye.”

We both laughed; we’ve been saying that since we were little.

“Ok, so, we’re good?”

“We’re better than good,” I said, shaking his hand. But when he grabbed hold of my hand, we smiled at each other and it turned into our totally awesome handshake (Video at the side) that we’ve been doing since we became friends during freshman year.

As I laughed, I lay my head back on the couch. Ow! My head, again.

Then I heard a beep coming from where Jordi was sitting. I saw her quickly put her iPhone in the pocket of her sweatshirt.

“Jordan Jeanette Cowell, did you film our super-secret handshake?” I asked.

“That’s Mr. Professor Jordan Jeanette Cowell to you, missy! And yes, ma’am, I did!”

“Jordi! That’s top secret!”

“Does this look like a face that cares?” she said.

That evil little girl.

I was just about to go up to her and attack her with tickles. She’s super ticklish. But as I was standing up from the couch, a very hung-over Zayn started waking up.

“You got lucky.” I mouthed to her.

She gave me a cheeky thumbs up and smiled.

And as if aliens were taking over the world and we were in some parallel universe, everyone started waking up at the same time!

It really gets you wondering…

“Good morning, lads!” I said.

Harry moaned. “Where are we? And who are you? Are you a crazed fan?” He started looking frightened.

And because Jordi loves One Direction so very much (note the sarcasm), she left and went wherever it is Jordi goes.

“No, I’m Sammi Cowell.” I said simply.

“Cowell? As in Simon Cowell.” Liam said.

“Not exactly… his daughter.”

Oh God, I’m gonna have to catch them up on a few things.
