So why choose Hedgehog Reviews?

I focus on something specific - Immersion.

How immersed am I in the world? How immersed am I with the characters? Do I get bored, and if I do, where is that at? I focus on immersion because, in the end, that's what makes a book memorable. Every time I opened Harry Potter, I just felt like I was in a magical world that I wanted to escape to. The books that I truly remember, even years after reading them, are ones where I forgot I was even reading and my mind just took over.

So my job here is to provide you insight on where you succeed at that, and where you fail.

💎45-50 Points = Inception Immersion. I'm in and I can't get out.

📗40-44 Points = Immersion success! I go to your story and know I will enter another world
📕30-40 Points = Zoning Immersion. I zoned in and out at places, but where I zoned in was spot on
📙20-30 Points = Lack of Immersion. I get a good sense of the book, but I'm just not immersed.
📘 10-20 Points = What Immersion? I just can't seem to get attached to anything here.
🚽0-10   Points = I may not even publish these. No one wants to see this!

You also get to start off with bonus points for if these below are good enough to make me thumb the book:
+1 point = cover
+1 point = synopsis
+1 point = title
Now they are bonus points because I have read amazing stuff before with crappy title, cover, and synopsis. They themselves don't ruin the immersion, but they sure do make it a whole lot better.

You start off with 53 points, and I take points off for immersion issues. These points can be removed if something is jarring and just yanks me out of the story, if the chapters don't flow well together, if the characters are unbelievable, or if a scene doesn't make sense, etc. The more chapters you give me to review, the more lenient (just a bit) I will be.

I won't just give you points and push you out the door, either. I will help you understand where I  struggled and give pointers on how to work on that. I will also tell you where you did a good job as well.  My goal is to not just review, but to give helpful feedback in the process.
