Chapter 5 : The Office

Kate introduced Zoe to Derrick, the office intern. She advised him to dump all the dirty work he could think of on Zoe and report Zoe to HR in case she messed up. Kate left promptly leaving behind a stunned Derrick and a pissed Zoe.

Derrick was short, with a large expressive face and a prominent mustache. He had a penchant for suspender pants. He was extremely afraid of his superiors and believed in following orders to the letter. He was excited to mentor Zoe.

"We are people who make life simpler for the rest of the employees. We do all the random errands. If we mess up, we are replaced within seconds! We are inconsequential! There is no room for error!" Derrick finished with feeling.

"So what you are trying to say is that we are lowest in the food chain!"

"You are wrong!" Argued Derrick hotly, "We are the bottom feeders!"

Zoe realized Derrick was into dramatics. She followed him around as he showed her the ropes. Derrick was curious about her acquaintance with Kate.

"Ripper is my sister!"Stated Zoe without thinking.

"Excuse me?" Responded Derrick.

"Um.. well my sister Kate is kind of terrifying, like Jack the Ripper!" Explained Zoe lamely.

"That's actually a very accurate description of your sister! I think I am going to like you! Your funny." Complimented Derrick happily.

Once Derrick finished demonstrating her errands, he began to explain about her daily routine. He pointed out Richard Jobs, the CEO and his son Edward Jobs, the financial head who were still chatting in the CEO office.

"And that is Miss. Angela Bennet, the creative head of KITES. All ideas need to be reviewed by her" Concluded Derrick just as a pretty woman in an colorful attire walked up to them looking curious.

"This is Miss.Gina Fitzgerald, secretary to Mr.Richard." introduced Derrick reluctantly.

"I'm Zoe, nice to meet you." Smiled Zoe as she shook hands with Gina.

As soon as Gina left Derrick went on to talk animatedly about the more famous elder son of
the CEO, Mr.Zack Jobs. He couldn't stop gushing about how Zack was as a world class photographer and how captivating his pictures were. He explained how photography took Zack to the most dangerous, isolated and exotic places in the world. Just as Derrick was going to elaborate more on the company he got called away by Gina.

Zack swaggered into the office building. Employees rushed to greet him as he walked to his father's office. His brother gave him a warm welcoming hug. His father hugged him overjoyed to see him. Zack explained he had been rafting down the river when his brother had called earlier.As he was too enthralled by the adrenaline rush and exhilaration of adventure sport, he had ignored the call. His father and brother shook their heads and sighed at his dangerous hobbies.

"How was Cambodia?" Inquired Richard.

"Awesome! Although not a great place for a holiday!" Replied Zack apologetically.

Zack was tall around 6 feet, with broad shoulders and muscular physique. He had long brown hair that he liked to tie in a bun. He had twinkling blue eyes, a strong nose, a fabulous jawline that was covered up in a thick beard and mustache. He sported a black t-shirt, teamed with ripped jeans,a denim jacket, and trekking boots. He wore many amulets on his arms and neck.

"Hey Jungle man! I hope you have a suit for tonight?" Questioned Edward doubtfully.

"You know me well brother, suits and me don't go well together." Smirked Zack.
