[The Day She Fought]
A few days after Elliot and Olivia talked about their money issues and Nick, Olivia asked Nick to dinner with her. He was quick to accept because he missed her just as much as she missed him. But he didn't know that she had more than just the fact she missed him telling her to ask him to dinner.
"Hey, it's so good to see you." Nick smiled, as Olivia stood up and hugged him.
"It's good to see you too. How is officer life treating you?" Olivia questioned, and Nick sighed.
"Not so good. I'd rather be back with you and the crew."
"We'd love to have you back and I'll work on that. But Nick, I heard you got in trouble for hitting a suspect." Olivia breathed, as she rested her hands on her lap. Nick tensed up a bit and avoided her eyes. If he looked, he would've seen how gentle and kind she was trying to be, but he thought she was trying to be a bitch instead.
"Did you just ask me here to bitch me out, because I don't want you to do this. Thanks for thinking of me, but I'm not letting you do this again." Nick huffed, and Olivia sighed as he stood.
"You need some help, Nick! Sit your ass down and let me talk to you. I don't want to be a bitch, but if being a bitch will make you listen to me that's what I'll do." She huffed back. Nick stomped back to the table and sat down before staring at her.
"So I hit him? It isn't a big deal. He got in my way and I hit him because he wouldn't listen to all the times I told him to sit down and shut the hell up." He hissed.
"You know how many times I've gotten in trouble for hitting a suspect. You know that more then even my own husband does. But Nick, you can't do it anymore. You were taken down from being a detective and forced back into being an officer. And what if Maria finds out about this? She may take Zara more than four hours away from you."
"What can I do now? It's happened?!" Nick exclaimed.
"If you promise to fight, I'll fight with you too," Olivia spoke, passionately. She reached across the table and grabbed his hand. She squeezed it gently and gave him a small smile.
"Will you do it?" She asked, and he nodded.
"I'll do it."
*-*
Olivia went home after dinner and took a bath before sitting next to her husband. Elliot was asleep with a can of beer in his hand, but she couldn't stop herself from snuggling into his side. She laid her head on his chest and ran her hand over his arm as her eyes closed. Being close to Elliot even when he was probably buzzed and asleep still made her feel good. They were in a better spot then they have ever been because now they had something different to look forward too.
For the five years that they had been married, whenever they got pregnant it was with one baby. But now there was two and they both just really believe that they'll be bringing home two healthy babies, compared to not even really having hope with the last two times Olivia was pregnant and miscarried the babies.
"How was your talk with Nick?" Elliot asked, as he sat the empty can on the spot beside him, before he wrapped his arms around his wife.
"It was okay. He almost stormed out because he thought I was only there to be a bitch to him. But I'm going to help him."
"What?" Elliot mused back to her quickly.
"I'm going to help him fight this. I'll help him get proof and if he needs to be interviewed, I'll be a character witness." She replied, and Elliot sighed deeply. He ran his hand over her stomach that had started to bloat a bit in the week since they found out about the twins.
"No, you aren't." He replied slowly. One thing Olivia hated more than anything in the world was to be told no. She is a strong independent woman, and even if she is married she doesn't need Elliot like a lot of woman claim they need their husbands. They are equals, and she hated when he tried to take power over her.
"I'm doing what I want, Elliot. So don't even try to stop me." She huffed before she pulled away from him and stood.
"I'm thinking about how stressful it'll be!" Elliot exclaimed, and Olivia quickly turned to look at him, her hands balled up into fists at her sides.
"I know what I'm doing! I'd rather go through a little stress now instead of having to talk to my friend who is living in prison. You guys don't just let them off with a warning, dirty cops go to jail and you put them there. God damn it, Elliot! I know you are trying to protect me but I know what I can and cannot do while being pregnant!"
"You aren't just some random pregnant woman, Olivia! You have lost two babies before, and you almost lost these two! So stop treating me like someone who has no idea what you have been through." Elliot yelled before he stormed out of the apartment for the night.
Olivia stayed in her spot as tears streamed down her cheeks. She relaxed her hands before placed them on her stomach. She hated how she and Elliot always fought about stuff like this. It was never normal things, always just her and her body.
The door swung open and Elliot stomped back in. He slammed the door and stared at his wife with anger filled eyes.
"That may be your body, but those are my babies. Whatever happens to you happens to them. If you get stressed, they get stressed. I just want to protect the three most important people in my life! So please don't help Nick. Maybe he needs to go to jail to realize what has been happening in his life!" Elliot exclaimed, before stepping closing to his wife and smashing his lips into hers.
