[The Day She Hit Twelve Weeks]
Olivia got Nick in contact with one of the best defense attorneys that she knew, but then she had to step back. She didn't just become distant, she actually told Nick that she's pregnant and that's why she couldn't help. Because the lives of her babies had to come first.
"He's lucky to have you on his side, even if you aren't going to be helping him every day," Elliot spoke, as Olivia and he walked hand in hand into the doctor's office. Olivia had started to feel her stomach swell more as the babies grew, and she even felt those tiny flutters that made her heart ache to hold them.
"I wish I could be with him through this all, but you were right." She replied, and Elliot squeezed her hand tighter and laughed a bit. He loved to hear his wife say that he is right.
"I know that I was right. Now, let's go tell Dr. Lee about how much these two have been moving around." Elliot smiled, as he reached out and opened the door for his wife. Olivia stopped inside and stole a kiss from his lips before they walked towards the office.
*-*
"Well, good news." Dr. Lee smiled, as she looked at the screen while she performed Olivia's first ultrasound.
"What is it?" Elliot asked before his wife could.
"Baby A moved, and isn't laying over Baby B. Both are looking great." Dr. Lee smiled, and Olivia grinned as Elliot wiped a tear from her cheek.
"So Baby B should be growing more now, right? Since his twin isn't over him?" Olivia asked, and Dr. Lee nodded.
"Olivia, they are doing great. Even greater than the other babies. I really do believe that these babies will make it to 36 weeks at the earliest." Dr. Lee smiled before she grabbed a towel and wiped off Olivia's stomach.
"We just have to get past 20 weeks before we can plan any further," Olivia whispered as she sat up. She climbed off of the table and buttoned up her pants before rolling her shirt back down.
"Well, we can have you come in on week 19, 20, and 21 if that would make you feel better."
"I think it would make us both feel better," Elliot admitted, and Dr. Lee nodded.
"Well, I'll see you in two weeks, okay? Then we can plan for that three-week appointment plan then. Take care and make sure you get enough sleep and fluids." Dr. Lee spoke, before hugging Olivia. She turned and left, while Olivia pulled her jacket on.
"It's good that our kid moved off of our other twin, right?" Elliot smiled. He knew that his kids were going to be trouble and Baby A has already made that clear.
"Yeah, it is," Olivia spoke.
"What's wrong? You are usually so excited after these appointments." Elliot sighed.
"I'm just nervous. I have to tell the crew today because I'm starting to show more, and we have 7 weeks before the first of three appointments and I'm just scared that even if we feel really good about this all that the babies won't make it."
"Just don't even think about it, love. Everything about this feels good. And I'm looking into that night job so we can start planning on getting that house."
"El, I told you already that I don't want you working more. The twins will be smaller and we can fit both of them into one crib for a bit. As they get older we can figure out how we can fit two beds in there, and how we can afford to send them both to school."
"Are you sure, Liv?"
"Yeah, I'm sure. We don't have to get any more furniture this way."
"I want to get you something special though. After the twins are born." Elliot spoke, and Olivia sighed softly.
"You don't have to get me anything. You are the reason why I can have these babies in the first place."
"But I already have it picked out I just have to finalize it."
*-*
"I brought lunch. Hopefully, you are all hungry." Olivia spoke, as she entered the squad room with a bag of sandwiches that her crew always manages to devour.
"You didn't have to do this, Liv," Amanda spoke, as she stood to grab her sandwich.
"I did because I also owe you all an explanation about why I take some mornings off and why I left with Tucker a couple of weeks ago and didn't return for two weeks."
"Are you having an affair with?" Amanda whispered. Olivia quickly shook her head as her eyes went wide.
"No! He just took me to the hospital..."
"Why did Tucker take you to the hospital?" Fin asked as he and Carisi sat on one of the empty desks.
"Because I'm pregnant and I had started to bleed."
"I thought you and Elliot were done trying?" Amanda questioned quickly.
"We had one last cycle and we waited a few months after that and I took a test and it came back positive. It's different this time because I'm having twins." Olivia smiled a bit, and they all went silent and stared at her.
Having their leader in so much pain every time she lost the baby or when the test came back negative really took a toll on the whole squad. Olivia was the glue that held their messed up squad together, and seeing her so broken and not being able to be the person they all go to really hurt them all.
"Twins?" Carisi asked, and Olivia nodded.
"Yeah, I can even prove it if you don't believe me..." She trailed off as she quickly started to dig through her purse for the sonogram picture from this morning's appointment. But as she started to panic because she thought she lost the picture, Amanda grabbed the purse and sat it down before quickly hugging Olivia tightly.
"Congrats, Olivia. You are going to be the best mother that these babies could ever ask for." Amanda breathed, which made Olivia start to cry. She held onto the detective tightly, as Amanda rubbed her back gently.
"Thank you so much."
