[The Day The Twins Went Home]

Another 5 weeks after the twins were born, Savannah was strong enough to leave the hospital and be at home with her parents and brother. Cade could've gone home the week before, but Dr. Lee and Dr. Corden didn't want to have Savannah have a setback and get sicker instead of stronger.

Both parents were a little overwhelmed a couple of hours before, because they had to put in the car seats, and neither of them had done it before.

"Maybe we should've done this like before I had the twins." Olivia sighed, as she sat in the middle seat, and because they had twins and she wanted to be in the back of the car on their ride home, they had to be on the seats near the doors.

"How are these so freaking confusing! Like, we are first time parents and like other first time parents it has to be hard." Elliot groaned. He looked at Olivia and cracked a small smile.

"What if we just hold them?" He asked, and Olivia groaned as she leaned her head against the headrest behind her.

"I'm not holding the twins on the way home. Maybe we should ask Amanda?" She offered, and Elliot nodded.

"Get in the front, babe. We are going on a trip." Elliot laughed.

After asking Amanda for help, and then having to ask Carisi for help since he is always talking about his niece, they managed to get the car seats in place. Elliot and Olivia sat outside of the hospital for an hour, just waiting for the time to go and get their kids.

"So, Savannah needs oxygen at night, and during her nap times," Olivia spoke, as she read through the notes she took during their last meeting with Dr. Corden.

"She's a baby, just a little under two months old. She's gonna be sleeping a lot." Elliot sighed. Olivia frowned as she thought about having to keep her daughter on oxygen.

"Maybe she'll start fighting it and we won't have to have her use it," Olivia spoke, as she tried to stay positive.

"Maybe." Elliot smiled. He leaned over and kissed his wife gently, before leaning back against his headrest.

"Carisi and Amanda probably think we are stupid," Elliot spoke, and Olivia laughed.

"Probably, but we are nervous. We are finally bringing our babies home, and we have never had one baby in our care, let alone two." Olivia replied.

They had some practice when they would watch Jesse, but they never had two premies to take care of. Olivia and Elliot had to avoid bringing germs into their house, and wouldn't be able to take the twins anywhere but to doctor appointments until they got the all clear.

"We can do this, right?" Olivia breathed.

"Yeah, we can do this. At least I hope we can."

Elliot and Olivia had a lot more stuff to bring home than they had thought. Savannah and Cade were wide awake the whole way home, which Olivia was thankful for because then she didn't have to force oxygen onto Savannah right away.

"Cade may need his diaper changed when we get home." Olivia sighed, as she sat in the back of their car between the twins. She had a hand on each of their pacifiers because she didn't want to risk them dropping it and throwing a fit because she couldn't wash them and give them back to them right away.

"Of course our son is the first one who needs a diaper change." Elliot laughed, as he pulled into their neighborhood. Olivia looked down at her son, as he stared up at her. His eyes were the same blue as his father, and they held so much curiosity even if he is so small. Olivia grinned at him, before looking over at Savannah.

Savannah's eyes were a little darker than her brother's. They were still blue, but they weren't a bright blue, it was almost as if they were meant to be a mix between the eye colors of her parents. But god, Olivia couldn't stop thinking about how adorable her kids were.

"Babe, did you hear me?" Elliot asked. Olivia looked up and saw him standing next to the open door on Savannah's side.

"Did you tell me that we were home?" Olivia asked, and Elliot nodded as he smiled.

"You were thinking about them again, huh?"

"It's so hard not to. God, we are so damn lucky."

Olivia and Elliot were busy all day. Cade and Savannah seemed to always be soiling themselves, or needing to be fed. While they were getting used to being parents, Olivia and Elliot noticed how Savannah loved to be cuddled by Elliot, and Cade loved to be cuddled by Olivia. Savannah hated having to be on oxygen, but once she fell asleep she calmed down considerably.

But by night time, Elliot and Olivia both admitted that they needed some help.

Elliot hadn't talked to his mother since he told her to leave the hospital, but he needed to get her to forgive him because they needed her help with the twins.

"Hello?" Bernie asked as she answered her phone. She was at her house, and as usual, she was sitting in front of an easel painting. She didn't even care if it was well into the night.

"Mom, it's Elliot."

"Oh." She spoke, and Elliot frowned.

"I'm sorry for how I reacted at the hospital. And I know I was a dick, but Liv and I brought the twins home today, and we are overwhelmed..."

"Do you need me to come and stay for a bit?" Bernie asked. She knew Elliot was really sorry for what he did, and it just took him a bit to apologize because he's been busy.

"If you wouldn't mind. Liv and I did okay, but even if there is a baby for each of us, we both needed to help each other when changing diapers and trying to get Savannah's oxygen going before bed and nap time." Elliot breathed.

"I'll be there in the morning. And I forgive you. Just don't do it again, alright?"

"Thanks, mom, and I'll never able to make it up to you. But thanks, so very much."
