CHAPTER 8: Secret Bodyguard

Home, where is it? A place that I can be me, A place I'll feel safe, a place where my family would be. I have no memory of such home. Where is that home? No one knows, and those who may have information of some sort, turn away from me.

I lived with a loving family. They weren't my family but they did take care of me as if I was their daughter. My memories of that home are a blur, though there are somethings that stand out to me. That annoying boy I used to live with, I called him 'Bunny boy', he was a pain. Always teasing, challenging and messing with me. It was annoying but fun, I was going to spend my whole life with them. Sadly that wasn't what God wanted.

I was separated from them after a horrible accident. I was hospitalized, unconscious, I had no idea what was happening. The last image was of that 'Bunny boy', his face was lit with horror and worry. I saw a tear roll down his cheek and then everything went dark. I was alone. When I woke up I expected to see 'bunny boy' but I was greeted by.....

"Wooh, Take it easy, Lilian" Chief said. He hurried to my side and helped me lay down. I jerked up when I felt energy flow inside of me, a sudden control of my body made me sit up with lightning speed. That was a bad idea. As chief helped me lay down, I began to recall everything that happened to me. Only 30 minutes ago all this mess happened. Only 30 minutes ago my dad stopped pretending to be my dad, and my brother began to act like my brother.

My brother, I have to see him. "Where is he?" I ask chief. He looks at me and signals me to look to my left. I see him, arms crossed over his chest, head low and his body slowly sliding of the chair he sat on. I smile at his sleepy form. "Any moment now" I say, looking at my brother attentively. "What?" I hear chief say, who sounds confused.

I don't get time to reply. I hear the chair squeak as my brother slides off and falls to the ground. He grunts and spits out plenty of very colorful words. Chief and I laugh so hard, earning some of those colorful words from my brother.

My brother stands up, still rubbing his poor butt, I feel your pain, bro. He stood beside my bed now. He looks nervous, his eyes weren't meeting mine. "H..how are...y..you? I..mean..does it....h..hurt?" He is definitely nervous. I smile and reach to hold his hand. I understand why he's acting like this. We never really talk to each other, especially not like asking each other if we are okay. We only fight or argue, we've only hated each other. But I think we both had a misunderstanding.

"I'm alright, Jaemin oppa. I'm alright because of you" I say to him. He smiles at me and I suddenly feel so happy. Its my first time seeing him smile. Can someone believe that while living with Jaemin oppa for so many years, this is the first time I've seen him smile. "You don't hate me anymore?" I blurt out this question. He shakes his head, "I never hated you, Lilian" he says.

I was filled with joy. "Dad would be so happy to hear th...." I don't finish my sentence. All that joy drained out of me like a tire being deflated. "I'm sorry Lilian. I knew about all this since the day you first came to our house. I couldn't tell you, he said he'd torture you if I warned you or the police. He told me to stay away from you." my brother became sad as well. So dad was just pretending to be nice, and my brother was being mean to keep me away from him so I wouldn't get hurt.

The question that I really need the answer to is "How did he know I am working for Phoenix and that I am agent Bloom?" I ask no one in particular. Chief answers, "We don't know yet, he isn't exactly cooperating with us" chief shrugs his shoulder. "I want to meet him" I move the comfy warm blanket away. I began to stand up but my brother grabs my shoulder and forces me to sit back down.

"I'm afraid that's not possible. I will not let you go near a man that will kill you." My brother shakes his head in disapproval. "He's our dad" I say. "Not anymore Lilian. A dad is not like him." Jaemin looks ashamed and hurt. "Jaemins right, he's dangerous. He's under high security but still I don't feel its okay to send you. Plus you have a flight to catch in three hours." chief says, looking at his watch.

Oh Frick! I completely forgot about it. "We'll take care of things here, Lilian. You just focus on the mission ahead." chief assures me and I nod. "Hold up! Where is Lilian going exactly?" my brother asks, all protective. He stood with his hands on his hips and a deadly yet confused look plastered on his face. He looks from me to chief. I just shrug my shoulders, and gesture my chief to explain. "She's going to Korea." he says. "Oh HELL NAH!" My brother shouts.

An hour before the take off

"Lilian, don't worry. Your brother will be safe with Phoenix. And your dad will give us answers" chief assures me for the 10th time. I let out a long breath and nod for the 10th time. "Yes chief, I know. If you keep repeating the same thing over and over again I will not board the plane" I say jokingly. He knows I'd never turn away from a mission, especially a mission I fought for.

I see my team enter the door to the airport. I suddenly feel nervous. I wipe my sweaty hands against my thighs. "You'll be fine." chief puts his hand on my shoulder. "I know you'll do great. After all you are my student." He says and smiles cheekily at me. I shake my head while smiling. I don't understand chief at all, he's rude but nice as well. Why do you have to confuse me so much, chief?

I take a deep breath and walk towards the automatic sliding doors. "If you are in trouble just tell me. I'll send you a bodyguard" I hear chief say from behind me. I chuckle and he does the same. We both know, I'm the one who will be a bodyguard but I decide to play along. "I already have one, chief" I say as I cross the doors. "Who?!" I hear him yell. The sliding doors were closing, but I answer him just in time.

"MY BROTHER" I shout. Chief smiles and the doors close.

Hey everyone! How are you all? umm...well I updated after a very long time ehehehe*nervous laugh* sorry. I'm afraid I'll be updating after a long period of time.
