Present Day
"Haha...left on a Pegasus..hahaha." James laughed stupidly and we all stared at him as if he had some kind of issues.
"That was the hardest test I have ever faced. I hope to never do something like that ever again." I held in my tears, I have to be strong at least in front of them.
"Why'd you shoot them?" Eric finally spoke up, it isn't like him to be so quiet, no matter the situation. He seemed to have taken this story to the heart, he hasn't looked up since the story began, he listened attentively but not once did he look at me or anyone in that matter. Did he not believe I would have the strength or the courage to do something like that, did he feel sad for my friends? Or did he just not expect that from me?- I wondered. I took a long breath and began. "Criminal bases are known to be low on medical supplies. Many bases don't have first aid kits, I figured if I shot my friends, they'd leave them alone. If the criminals still took my friends, they both would have bled to death before reaching the destination. In the end the criminals found my friends useless and let them go." everyone looked at me with sparkling eyes. "Lilian, you are a genius!" James said excitedly, he is the only one who always acknowledges my achievements in a unique way. He even cheers me on when I fail.
"This genius had and still have a lot of pain and regret after shooting my own friends" it was a horrible experience, my hands are trembling just by remembering it. "Agent Bloom! Chief is asking for you!" a random agent came to me in a hurry. She wore a plain white button up shirt tucked under her knee length skirt. She is from the tech team.
"Have I done something wrong?"I asked. "Of-course not ma'am. He just asked me to call you. But don't say anything...stupid. He seemed angry." she said as we walked towards his room. She opened the door and I entered with unsure steps, I was afraid. Once the door was shut, I looked towards the chief but noticed someone else as well. It was the man I saved, Bang Si-hyuk sir. He looked over to me and smiled and I returned it. "Congratulations, you and your friends are going to Korea, agent Bloom" I smiled excitedly, my teammates will be so happy. "But..Why us? There are a lot of other phoenix teams, Why'd you choose us?" I questioned. He walked towards me, hands behind his back and a kind smile on his face."I thought if you could put your life on line and save me from that terrifying truck then I'm sure you can protect my boys" he said. I smiled at his reasoning, that was exactly what I wanted to hear, his trust in my team, his trust in me.
I looked at my chief, he was trying his best to look happy but I can see his eyes twitch in anger. He glared at me once he noticed me staring at him but I just ignored it. I won't let him ruin this moment. Bang Si-hyuk sir shook my hand, turned around nodded at chief and left the room. I stayed behind, I know chief has something to say. I turned towards him and he began. "You think you have won, but trust me when I say you are about to lose" he spoke stiffly. I didn't understand what he meant so I kept quiet and let him continue. "You'll regret this, Lilian. I thought after that test, you'll never attempt to protect anyone else. Are you planning the death of BTS members just like you planned your friends." He smirked.
My hands were clenched into a fist. Anger is not the best option I can use here. "I did not kill my friends, they are safe and healthy just as I wanted. Protecting BTS does not sound hard, I think I am strong and smart enough to take care of this mission. This is what I have been training for, haven't I, chief?" I stared at him, getting my message through him, making him realize that's what I was taught to do.
Kill and protect. I continued "My job is to protect and save the people that need me. My job is to keep BTS safe and alive, then I'm willing to do anything it takes to keep them that way, even if it meant me shooting them" Chief lost the color of his face , he was pale and both eyes were open wide."Suppose I was taken captive. Will you shoot me as well?" Chief asked me, regaining his energy. I would have shot him, not to save him but to kill him. By killing him, so many people will be in peace, he's rude and has no respect for anything or anyone. Well, he changed, he wasn't like this before. I used to look up to him but I turned away from him once he showed his reality.
