CHAPTER 14: Friends and family always come first

"You promised...you wouldn't leave me. You promised you'd never hurt yourself. You promised to never cry." Jungkook said.

I was strapped on a hospital bed. Jungkook was beside me, crying. "I'm right here. I'm not going anywhere" I wanted to say these words but nothing came out of my mouth. It was like my lips were stitched together. "You left me. I won't forgive you." Jungkook said as he looked at me.

He stands up and turns his back towards me. No! Turn around Jungkook! "He can't hear you Lilian. And soon he won't remember you." I looked at the man who spoke. His hair was gray, he had wrinkles on his face and his eyes....his eyes told me he was in great pain.

He comes near me and reaches to touch my face but halts when another person speaks. "Step away old man" It was Eric, he held a gun in his hand and pointed it towards the old guy. "That's no way to speak to your grandfather, son" the man says. Grandfather? "Did your mother send you?" Eric doesn't speak. "Of course she did. My son wasn't enough for her to kill and now she wants to kill me."

"My mother didn't kill my dad" Eric hisses angrily. The old man looks at me and smiles weakly. Why does the old man look so familiar and yet so unknown. A tear left the old man's eye "You are right. She didn't just kill my son, she killed both of my sons and daughter." The man finishes talking and Eric shouts "Shut UP!" Eric shoots the bullet. It pierces through the mans chest.

My lips part and a scream leaves my mouth. "NO!" I shouted. I struggled as I tried to free myself from the straps. Tears streamed down my face as I watched the old man collapse to the floor. Eric glances at me and then runs away towards the dark alley that suddenly appears out of no where.

A dark cloud begins to envelope the room and everything in it. The old man held his hand out to me while the life bled out of his body. I, without realizing lifted my hand up to him, knowing I can't reach the old man. The darkness surrounds the old man and my bed suddenly begins to move backwards.

I panic and look behind me to see chief. "I'll take you somewhere safe. Somewhere no one will hurt you." Chief said to me. "Please don't take me. I made a promise to someone. I promised I'd never leave him alone." I cried out. "I made a promise as well. I made a promise to keep you safe no matter what happens" Chief says as he pulls me away from the dark cloud.

I look back at the old man. His hand was still out stretched towards me but when I lifted my hand again, the dark cloud had swallowed the old man. Little by little blackness took over and suddenly my head snaps towards where Jungkook stood. I saw him, he looked like a little frightened kid. He covered his ears and shut his eyes tightly. He was alone and helpless.

I move around from under the straps trying to get free and help Jungkook. I can't leave him alone. "chief....please let me help him at least" I pleaded. "I can't do that. I need to take you someplace they won't ever find you" Chief said and pulls me away faster. Jungkook becomes tinier and tinier as I'm pulled far away from him. The dark cloud finally reaches to Jungkook and I suddenly break free from the straps.

I get off the bed and sprint towards Jungkook. "Lilian come back!" Chief screams but I ignored him. My only concern was to get Jungkook out of here. I kept running, tears hindering my view. "Jungkook!" I shouted his name. "Jungkook!" I shouted his name again. He hears me and opens his eyes. A small smile crept to his face but suddenly horror takes over. The dark cloud had surrounded him now. Jungkook looks at me and says "Next time, I'll make you promise not to break a promise" he smiles and the dark cloud eats him up. "JUNGKOOK!"
